I would love to lose about a stone but I’m also focusing on more healthy foods.

Thinking about gut health..more fruit and veg, nuts and seeds, less ultra-processed foods and definitely less sugar (my weakness).
Also looking to improve my exercise and mindfulness habits.

Will aim to have a weigh-in on Fridays but I’m not looking for an unsustainable quick fix. Would love to (finally) get into good, long term healthiness.

I’m currently 10st 3lb.

CortieTat Yum that soup looks very interesting! What do all the colours represent?

Had fish and chips on Saturday night and a bbq yesterday so not the healthiest weekend but it was very enjoyable.

My next session on the treadmill will be 2 lots of 12 minute runs 😱 which sounds impossible to me but hopefully I'll get through it!

Fingers crossed for your run! You can do it!

The soup can look like a flag of Ireland, I realised :-) but honestly that wasn’t the idea, I just grabbed what I had. The white fish is leftover mackerel and the orange bit is fermented carrot and kålrot (swede?)

The rest is kale, wakame, soy and the noodles are also green, they are shirataki noodles coloured with spinach. They were on sale in the Japanese shop and had a decent ingredient list so now I’m stuck with them because my family said no way😂.

Good luck with your run @MonkeyTennis34!

I’ve had a great bank holiday weekend - only caved in once by having some cake in a cafe. Had less than half of it as I didn’t really enjoy it. What’s happening to me?!

CortieTat · 29/05/2024 09:54

The book I’m reading got me really interested in food presentation. I’ve been experimenting with making things look nice with what I have, without going on a shopping spree. It’s fun and it really helps me slow down and enjoy the food.

My lunch from yesterday were mostly leftovers from the fridge.

I had a day off plan yesterday. Turned into a great reminder for why I need to stick with it. I’ve been SO hungry all day long and today’s exercise session felt about twice as hard as usual. I didn’t even drink any alcohol! Anyway I’m back on track today, full of good intentions. How’s everyone else doing?

CortieTat · 30/05/2024 21:31

I’ve just got back from a run, I do a short run with intervals once a week. It’s so nice when days are long, it’s nearly half past 10 over here and still relatively light outside.

We also had a thai takeaway, I divided mine in half but still got more or less 800 kcal in one meal. Not great.

In other news DH bought a rice cooker. I love this man.

Omg CortieTat that food looks amazing!
Very Wagamama!!
I bet it was delicious too 😋

I've not been doing great and have eaten so much sugary stuff over the past few days...not sure if it's the menopause or just my innate greed!

My exercise has been better. I'm still following my program on the treadmill.

@MonkeyTennis34 I’m cheering you on from the sidelines!

I’m currently guarding the bathroom door, was super thick and had half a pizza, not gluten free, gluten full. The most talented poets wouldn’t be able to describe what is happening in my belly now 🔥. All self-inflicted.

MonkeyTennis34 · 31/05/2024 21:14

Oh no CortieTat

I hope you don't feel too poorly!

How was your weekend? I went for my long run after a thunderstorm and it was glorious! Beautiful sun peeking through the clouds and fog rising from the meadows. I felt great and I am a bit less knackered today than the last time.

I bought used Ottolenghi’s “Plenty” on Vinted and tried one of the recipes on the family today. Younger DC not impressed: quote too much taste unquote 😅

That looks delicious CortieTat and extremely nutritious!!

Since I've started eating more veg, nuts, seeds etc I've definitely seen a huge improvement to my bowel movements! No going back,

Just need to keep a lid on my sweet tooth....find this pretty impossible tbh.

Weekend was good, we had a Chinese takeaway on Saturday night (my least favourite takeaway but everyone else loves it!) and watched the film Civil War, a bit disappointing.

Me and DH grabbed a couple of hours wandering round a local seaside town.
DD back to full on GCSE exam timetable.

PS your run sounds perfect, after a thunderstorm everything feels new 😊

We finished watching Fallout last night, a bit disappointing as well. I played the first one and back then it definitely felt more complicated than just disemboweling random folk.

I’m madly in love with the rice cooker! I’ve already tried making white, brown and black rice, beans, lentils and even millet with apples and cinnamon. All great. Sushi rice came out perfect. It’s a patient machine that just delivers.
We made industrial quantities of sushi.

Your sushi looks fantastic CortieTat
DD loves sushi and sometimes makes her own. We got her a sushi making lesson at Yo Sushi a few years ago that we all joined in with, great fun!

Oh no, I LOVED Fallout!
The violence was jaw dropping but I particularly enjoyed the aesthetic...strange 1950s setting sometime in the future.

We recently watched and enjoyed Silo with Rebecca Ferguson, who I had no idea is Swedish!

CortieTat · 06/06/2024 21:54

@MonkeyTennis34 I have Silo on my to do list now :-)

We have a holiday today (National Day) and we went to Ikea to buy some hangers for a couple of skirts I bought. Of course we ended up with the hangers, three mirrors, three sets of bed linens and some random boxes for the kids.
It’s my running day and I got caught in a thunderstorm, fortunately I was right in the middle so at the point of not paying attention. By the time I got home I was soaked.

I ate really well today, managed to find a reasonable option in IKEA - a bean salad with quinoa, but had a gluten free cookie with my coffee. It was a very big cookie 🍪 too.

MonkeyTennis34 · 07/06/2024 16:04

Haha it's impossible to buy just one thing at Ikea @CortieTat

You bean salad with quinoa sounds lush.
Just had a very late lunch of tabbouleh salad, ready-made. It was delicious!

My healthy eating tends to take a nosedive over the weekend. Just bought some chocolate chip cookies from M and S, they are quite possibly the most delectable cookies in the universe!

Gave a great weekend everyone!
