Almost 2 years ago my mental health hit an all time low, I started tablets which really helped me and basically ate anything i wished to be honest, I'm now completely of them almost 8 weeks thankfully I'm feeling better mentally but oh my... I've gained over 3 stone 🙈
I'm not sure if I couldn't see it properly before or what but it's getting warmer now and I definitely can't live in my coat much longer.

Any advice on how to get motivated or any diets etc. I don't want my weight starting to wear me down mentally

Can you tell us a bit more about what your current routine is? Walking is a great way to start to incorporate movement into your day. Are you confident cooking healthy nutritious meals already and just need help with the motivation to eat well? Not ‘just’ but hopefully you know what I mean!

A phrase that stuck with me was “no matter what speed you’re going at (when running or walking), you’re lapping everyone who’s sat on their sofa.” Small changes really do add up.

Most diets don't work long-term because people go back to old habits afterwards. Best thing is to look at the kind of stuff you're eating and why and make sustainable lifestyle changes that you'll stick to forever.

An easy win is to cut back on convenience foods— takeaways, ready meals, sugary cereal, snack bars. Look up "ultra processed food" to see more.

Hi, Over my lifetime I've tried so many diets and they've either been too hard to stick to, plain madness, not worked, or actually worked pretty well (Blood Sugar Diet and Weightwatchers). However, even with the ones that worked, I got to a point where I just couldn't do it any more and then cracked, ate more than before I started the diet and ended up bigger and unhappier than before I ever started the diet. A couple of years ago I was forced to address my health and weight for external reasons. After a huge amount of thinking about where I was going wrong and why (I mean many, many months here!) I realised I was just eating all the time, the wrong stuff and for all sorts of reasons other than hunger (happy, sad, bored, habit, greed, out with friends, convention etc). I found something called Slimpod which seemed to address this. I promise I have nothing to do with it at all other than I've done it and it has worked. I've done it for nearly a year, back to lighter than my young woman weight, reversed the things that drove me to make the change etc and this is just how I live now. There are no food rules, no weighing, no restrictions, it's just all based around something called unconscious persuasion and you just basically start to want to eat less (ie only when you're hungry and for no other reason), move more (general activity and actual exercise) and choose better. I'd say it sounds too good to be true BUT I've done it over the last year, it's worked and I'm like a different person. If you google it there's a free 10 day trial so no risk. I went into it thinking it probably wouldn't work but I had no other options and I needed to change and it has helped me so much. Have a look at least. Really hope this helps.

(^^ I guess it does come down to eat less, move more, but it helps you want to do that and tbh it feels easy.)
