Hi,

I've decided to make a change starting from today. I've tried various ways to lose weight in the past, some have worked others have not, but over time the weight has gradually crept on. I graduate in March 2025 and would love to look and feel much healthier for then.

Today is day one, I'm planning on watching my calorie intake eating 1200 a day and using orlistat to aid. Also recording what I eat on Nutracheck as I can scan my food packages to help in recording and monitoring.

If anyone would like to join, even if not using orlistat please do, and we can support each other 😊

Starting weight 14/04/24 - 15st 1lb
Target weight - 11st

I'll join you. I'm not using orlistat but planning on the calorie counting from tomorrow and tracking with nutracheck as that's what's worked for me in the past.

Just really hoping to stay motivated.

My starting weight is 13 stone 10
And target weight 10 stone

Makeachange2024 · 14/04/2024 21:23

Welcome 😊

I'm really hoping that I can stay motivated this time too.

The app looks really good, quite liked that you can search for specific brands so it's more accurate.

Morning

I would like to join, I've weighed myself this morning and I'm the heaviest I've ever been feeling so ashamed. I'm 122kg which is 19stone.

The app has advised my first target to be 98kg

Good luck.

What an absolute shock the weigh was this morning :(

Makeachange2024 · 15/04/2024 08:01

Good morning and welcome @Mummytodo

I was shocked to when I weighed myself, but we can do this! 💪

After starting yesterday and documenting what I had eaten I have realised I really need to up my fluid intake, I'm so bad for not drinking enough 🙈

Mummytodo · 15/04/2024 08:29

Tbh I don't think I drink enough water. I live off of caffeine, I will add a glass off water and then build it up.

I downloaded the app that you have downloaded and tracked my progress. It is a bit of shock as I thought I was around 98kg haha.

I've told my fella he will be eating healthier with me or he will be making his own food. He was quite supportive and will be eating healthy with me :) I'm looking forward to getting this number down I have centre parcs end of may and we are going to Wales ok July

Please share if you have any nice healthy recipes :)

Blackcats7 · 15/04/2024 08:33

Having tried orlistat myself years ago I just wanted to advise keep a change of clothing and wipes with you especially at first till you get to know how it will affect you and what you can or can’t eat.

Makeachange2024 · 15/04/2024 08:57

I only had 3 glasses of water yesterday, I just tend to forget to drink lol... But I'm going to aim to have a glass when I have something to eat hoping that will help.

That's lovely he is going to join you too. I think that's the one thing I'm dreading is making different dishes for me, husband and the kids. Need to go and buy some salady bits and fruit today.

I had cauliflower macaroni cheese for tea last night, just over 400 calories which was really nice and filling.

I found the app really helpful when I used it before, just so easy to track everything with it.

Ready to get started this morning, I know I'll be alright at first but it's sticking to it long term I find difficult, so determined to break that this time.

Makeachange2024 · 15/04/2024 09:00

Thank you @Blackcats7 . I had read that some people had some bad side effects to it. It's still early days, see how it goes, but I'll take a change of clothes to uni with me just in case lol.

Cauliflower cheese is a good shout!!

I think it's a good app aswell i used to use my fitness pal but I think this is better!

After school run I went to the shop to get healthy bits by coincidence they had loads of chicken reduced so I ordered some portioned it all out an now in the freezer.

Had chicken salad for lunch and plan to have stir-fry for tea :)

I used to use that app too, I like the extra features on this one.

Ooh lots of nice meals you could make with that chicken.

I had a tuna salad for lunch today. Though my toddler kindly helped me eat it 😂

I gotta say I love this app. Haven't come across any glitches and seems so easy to use.

My kid is on the spectrum and has limited diet. Sadly most of it is junk food and loads of fruit.

The stir fry has gone down well with my partner :)

reallyworriedjobhunter · 15/04/2024 18:42

Hello, Count me in too please!

I'm 16 stone and need to loose 4 stone really. Shocking seeing that in black and white.

I'm doing through 3 sensible, high protein, high fibre meals a day. No snacks to yank my blood sugar around. Also making sure that I drink 2 l of water a day.

Chocolate and biscuits are my downfall.

Really interested to hear how you get on with Orlistat.

I'm on day 3. Good luck everyone.

Makeachange2024 · 15/04/2024 19:05

@Mummytodo i can relate to that, 2 of mine have asd and the third adhd.. Meal times are fun!

What did you put in your stir fry?

I had braised beef with carrot and sweet potato mash. I was very jealous of my husband and eldest having pork and apple sausages lol

Makeachange2024 · 15/04/2024 19:15

Welcome @reallyworriedjobhunter

Chocolate is my downfall too, I know if I have some I would want more. I've bought bliss bars instead which are less than 80 calories so I can have one a day if I feel like I want something sweet.

What meals have you had so far?

So far I have had no unwanted side effects with orlistat, but it's only been 2 days so time will tell lol

Also a ND household here.

Breakfast
Greek yogurt, blueberries, pumpkin and sunflower seeds

Lunch
Was out at a thing so had a Pret Niçoise salad

Dinner
Salad - cold roast chicken, chickpeas, leaves, a roasted pepper from a jar, cherry tomatoes. Olive oil and balsamic.

Only 2 coffees, lots of water.

I'm feeling full. Lots of peeing with all the water!

Mummytodo · 15/04/2024 19:37

@reallyworriedjobhunter welcome!

I'm liking the sound of your breakfast!

@Makeachange2024 braised beef is one of may favorites, I'd prefer it to the sausages... But then I like them too lol.

I had mixed bag of veg from added in water chestnuts and chicken, I make very lazy stir fry and then added chicken oxo and light soy sauce

Mummytodo · 15/04/2024 19:38

I really struggle with the water drinking

TheShellBeach · 15/04/2024 19:40

I've lost two and a half stone on Orlistat. I think it's great.

I started at 20st and I'm 17st 7lb now.
That's since February.

DopamineChaser · 15/04/2024 19:56

Just read that you ate cheese?!?! You are meant to keep fat under 15g with each meal (45g per day) as well as counting calories. If you go above 15g with each meal (with each tablet taken) you will suffer the side effects, bright orange oil leakage which stains everything and no bowel control.

I found orlistat to be a great tool to lose 3 stone back in the first lockdown. It was easy to stick to when there was no socialising/meals out etc.

Contemplating trying it again as regained the 3 stone plus another 2 and a half due to menopause and medication issues.

Makeachange2024 · 15/04/2024 20:16

@DopamineChaser I used a slimming world recipe for the cauliflower macaroni cheese so it was only 1.7g fat in it. I definitely don't want those side effects lol

@TheShellBeach ooh that definitely sounds promising then 😊

@reallyworriedjobhunter that breakfast sounds lovely

@Mummytodo think I'll have to do a stir fry to later this week

Makeachange2024 · 15/04/2024 20:25

*9.4g fat sorry

reallyworriedjobhunter · 15/04/2024 20:58

@Mummytodo I have been carrying a water bottle around with me - everywhere. It's one with a straw so easy to sip from. I know that I have to empty it three times to hit my target, so one in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Day 3....

So many trips to the loo.
