So for information purposes. I'm 5"6'. 16 Stone 5pounds. Female and 49.

I feel like I'm eating myself to death. I can't control my eating. By 4pm I could eat everything in sight.

Can anyone direct me to some sort of resource to help me get control again please. I'm really stuck.

Do you live in Northern Ireland?

This may be useful to you?

Be kind to yourself ok?
Do you have something stressful going on in your life at the moment?
Are you restricting your eating all day then getting to 4pm and then over eating?
If so, don’t set yourself unrealistic goals - fasting probably isn’t right for you

Thank you for the links I'll look at them now. I'm not restricting my eating at the moment because I felt it was making me crave more and more.

I am not particularly stressed. I just am peri menopausal but I feel like I'm loosing my mind. I will literally have eaten a plate of dinner but not remember a mouthful of it.

I feel like food is ruling me. I don't know how to take back control

Can you afford wegovy?

Menora · 21/03/2024 07:25

For now I would forget trying to do anything that creates a restriction because when you are in this cycle it’s going to cause more cravings. When I was in the same situation as you are now I took a step back to really look at my life and the areas that were causing me stress. Thing is I had got so used to the stress I didn’t even recognise it was stress! You know, kids, work, I had no time to myself I was always tired and burned out.
Have you spoken to a doctor and had any check up or blood tests done?

CortieTat · 21/03/2024 09:00

What do you eat? Do you overeat healthy foods or snacks (sugar, crisps, junk food, etc)? If the second, try not to have these options in the house. It’s torture to sit at home, feeling hungry and be surrounded by junk that is forbidden. Make the unhealthy options hard to get.

What is this? I've not heard of it. I can afford some outlay if it helps.

Edited

I haven't been to see a doctor yet.

It's really hard to get through to our doctors it can take days. Then you are telephone triaged by a receptionist. So it could take another couple days to be seen.

I know I should go but I don't want anti depressants and I've read that at my age it's the default prescription for many GP's.

What is this? I've not heard of it. I can afford some outlay if it helps.

It's a new medication that lowers insulin production and reduces appetite by increasing satiety. It's expensive (£200 + per month) but it works. It's a medium term commitment though (6 months plus)

Gall10 · 21/03/2024 10:49

Get gallstones…pain is incredible unless you stick to a low fat diet!

Menora · 21/03/2024 11:46

@swiftieNI I just wonder if it’s worth getting your bloods done. When I was anaemic it affected my appetite quite badly

Investinmyself · 21/03/2024 12:30

Have a look on Mounjaro thread. I’m almost 50 perimenopause and it’s made a massive difference reducing appetite and desire to eat junk.

AhBiscuits · 21/03/2024 14:29

I'm a Wegovy convert too. Over 30lbs down so far and couldn't overeat if I wanted to.
