Help me to lose weight! With a baby in the house...

I had a baby six months ago and since being pregnant I've gone up two dress sizes!

A mixture of pregnancy weight and eating terribly during the babys naptimes since giving birth have really done a number on me and now my confidence. I don't recognize myself in the mirror.

Any advice on how I can lose weight when I have a six month old to look after and I also live in a flat with limited room and shops below.

We go for a good half hour walk a day and I've tried changing up my diet and trying not to snack, did anyone else have the same problem and found a solution??

If you can do nap walks then you'll be busy walking while your baby naps instead of snacking. That's what I did. Afternoon naps needed the movement of the pram so I'd go out for a walk for an hour and he'd sleep. If I was lucky he'd stay asleep long enough once we got back for me to have a cup of tea in peace.

I walked and walked and walked and walked and walked!

Either that or hope baby has a healthy appetite and eats your dinner too!

It's all about your food intake. Walking is great , but if you're eating more than you need you'll gain weight. Try using a calorie counting app and also getting a fitbit so that you know roughly how many calories you actually need each day.

I don’t have a baby but have recently been house bound and started doing MadFit exercise routines on YouTube. I also do some from 5 minute fitness? They are quick and easy to fit in. if your baby will sit in a bouncy chair or swing maybe try them ? I also live in an upstairs flat and there are loads of apartment friendly videos.

Are you breastfeeding?

Do not jump to reducing your calories intake -focus on making healthy nutritious choices to begin with. Good lean protein, healthy fats, plenty of fibre, > 5 portions of veg and fruit per day, whole grains.
