Can not get the last stone off !!

I did really well last year, I lost four stone and now have abs and all the rest. I’ve been hugely dedicated to diet and gym classes. Gone from a 20 to 12 and it’s been a great journey weirdly.

I can NOT get the last stone off, I haven’t lost a pound since October and it’s not a vanity thing, I just want to get back into ALL my clothes.

i am 50 for reference and not moaning, it’s just about getting into my clothes

You sound similar to me OP! Also early 50s. I've lost 8 stone over the last 18 months (ish) and have one more I'd like to lose - but it's not shifting at all even though I'm maintaining similar diet and exercise routines. I don't really mind staying where I am now, but it'd just be nice to get rid of that last bit...and completely get you about clothes....sorry I don't have the answer! 😀

Have you recalculated your tdee for your new weight? When you weigh less you need less calories generally. It sounds like you might be on maintenance calories if you've not lost anything since October. Well done on your loss so far--how did you do it?

Wow great effort. If you have abs at size 12 you must have great muscle definition generally- maybe you won't get quite as small as you used to be because of that? Being strong seems a pretty great trade off for a few outfits!

I’m struggling with the last stone too.

to have abs showing you must have pretty low body fat. Abs don’t just appear through working out as they are hidden under the fat. I can see a bit of my obliques but I have obvious body fat still remaining in my stomach and glutes too. I’m just carrying on in a deficit but you need to work out if your TDEE should be less now? Have you measured yourself all over to see whether you really do need to lose weight? Are you just aiming for a size 10 clothes?

You’re right of course, I probably don’t need to lose any more. I have got a 28” waist (started off at 40”) but I’ve always had a smallish waist so it is probably enough but I think the fat that’s left is on my thighs. And the mum tum of course😳

for those asking, I did keto and two gym classes a day, starting off with aquafit and now on circuits. I also ate high protein rather than high fat which I’m convinced has helped build muscle, certainly my hair is thicker than it’s been for years.

Yep those last few pounds are hell on earth to shift, Ive only 7 lb to go and Im yoyoing, - lose a lb, gain a lb

Im 10 years older and I just want those extra few pounds as Ive still a bit of a middle aged spread and im still showing as too much body fat so Im determind to keep trying

Ive recalculated what calories I actually need and theres no option but to cut again. And its difficult so what Im doing now is basically 5 :2 , five days where Im on what Ive been used to these past few months and 2 days where I cut down to 800. Fast days arent so hard, I tend to go make spicey vegetable dishes that the rest of the family wont eat and add tinned fish to the mix for the oils and extra protein. Cos Im doing it work days I do get some strange looks tucking into salad and cooked veggies for breakfast but hey ho, when Im on holiday cucumbers, olives and tomatoes are acceptable so why not here :)

You might need to start counting calories as well as doing keto (or just count calories of you want). Your energy needs are less now you are lighter. You'll have to get precise to lose another stone as you've pretty much gone into maintenance.

pickledandpuzzled · 27/02/2024 10:52

Just maintain for a year. That’s a triumph. When you’ve successfully maintained for a year check again- I’m sure your measurements change as you settle in to your new weight. I lose weight in my bust first, then after a period of maintenance it returns to my bust presumably coming from somewhere else.

I have to admit I laughed out loud when the guy came on here the other day when some older women were talking about losing weight and he gave his "you just need to be like me - work out, move more, eat less, it's so easy". Eyeroll. He was in his 30s.

I can't seem to shift the last few stone either op, it does get a bit depressing.

rookiemere · 27/02/2024 11:19

What is your weight and height OP?
Well done on your weight loss journey.

showmethegin · 27/02/2024 11:32

This is happening to me! I lost 4 and a half stone after having my son and I get married in July and the last 12 pounds just won't go anywhere. It's so frustrating!!!

FaiIureToLunch · 08/03/2024 07:15

I’ve got to have a tooth out today so hopefully the last stone will fly off now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’ve found the biggest difference to my body to come from what I assume is body recomp where I am losing fat in a slight deficit but building muscle as the deficit/protein is still decent. I don’t love the body fat scales at the gym but they tell me I have more lean body mass than when I started and less fat which does fit with my body measurements. If you are fit then it might be that your weight is not all fat, it’s muscle mass. I still weigh 75kg my waist has gone from 38 inches to 30
