Did giving up alcohol accelerate your weight loss?

Just what the title says, really. Did giving up alcohol accelerate your weight loss and how much did you lose in what amount of time? I've quit drinking for health reasons and I'm hoping weight loss will be a positive side effect.

I definitely notice it in my face when I haven’t drank alcohol in a while. I’m a sporadic drinker so no desire or need to knock it on the head but I like a beer or two in the summer or on holiday etc and my face gets quite bloated for sure. No noticeable effects on my weight as I don’t weigh myself.

I hear you! My face bloats so much when I drink alcohol. My Mum pointed it out to me when I was about 19/20 and in my fifties it is still really bad. The minute I go any length of time without alcohol my face just shrinks!

I give up wine and alcohol for Lent. I do it for a month or so here and there throughout the year. Afraid to say I've never lost any weight, I don't feel any better, and my skin does not improve. I'm sure it's good for me though so I'll do it again (from next week)!!

It took around 3 months for the full effect of the changes to be notice ime.
One day I looked in the mirror and was blown away by how good my skin, hair, eyes looked. My sleep improved and the weight loss increased also.
I think for the first month or two I was busy replacing the sugar I was missing from wine with chocolate and simple carbs such as bread & crackers, but once I’d got into the swing of being AF, I stopped that.

I am a light drinker so giving up alcohol is actually detrimental to weight loss efforts for me personally. I need a treat at the weekends to make me stick to healthy eating the rest of the time. 120cals of chocolate lasts about 2 minutes so I have more. But 120cals of wine lasts aaaages! Every sip is a treat.

Everyone is different!
