Just wondered eating/doing the below on an average day, would you expect to loose, gain or stay the same weight?
I'm about 5ft5" and weigh around 11stone.

Breakfast - porridge, made with semi skimmed milk
Mid morning - banana, apple and cup of coffee
Lunch - 2 boiled eggs, cup of soup and activia yoghurt
Mid Afternoon - orange or another piece of fruit
Dinner - Normal meal, varied
Evening - cup of options hot chocolate

Realistically drink probably another cup of tea(with milk) and around 1 litre of water/diluting juice

I have got Bingo wings though. 😑Can anyone suggest exercises specifically for this ? Have been trying arm exercises since 15.01 this year.

You can't spot reduce fat so just need to lose fat in general.

If you're fat enough to have bingo wings you could have triceps like the fellas off gladiators, You won't see them!

Ok here is my usual diet I am 166cm and 77kg. Lost 22kg and 9kg more to lose
As I get closer it gets harder

I eat the same stuff on rotation all week every day.

Breakfast - plain yoghurt + banana

Snack: almonds, mini baby bel or small 25g amount of cheese

Lunch:

  • a large bowl of a meat/ veg chunky soup (no bread)
  • Or a big chicken/turkey salad with grains/ cous cous, shredded red cabbage, spinach, cucumber, peppers
  • OR a pokè bowl from supermarket if I am in a hurry and have nothing else

Snack: Apple, mini baby bel, a whole red pepper, gerkins, variety of these things or all of them or none!

Dinner

  • if I am going out or to the gym or get back late I will make 3 x scrambled eggs with turkey bacon, spinach, pepper, onion. I might have 1 protein bagel with it depending on what else I ate that day.
  • if am not in a rush I will have turkey, chicken or salmon done in air fryer with grains and big pile of green veg (only if I did not already have rice or grains today) or just with a big pile of green veg like green beans, broccoli
  • or a big salad with avocado, feta, spinach, cous cous type thing

Snack/treat: low cal jelly. Carrots. More yoghurt, berries. Weekends maybe a halo ice cream. I might even eat a couple whole grain crackers 😂

Drinks: water, some Coke Zero

I don’t get that hungry as I eat fairly large amounts of the 2 main meals. Today I had a whole large Tupperware full of the salad with chicken and grains and I am not hungry since but I will be hungry bang on 5.30pm

Thanks. Just feeling a bit old and desperate recently!

I’m happy to share what I eat when I figure out how to attach pictures from my calorie counting app. Your diet looks high in sugar and not many vegetables, I try to eat over half a kilo of various vegetables a day and hardly any fruits (I don’t like fruit). It’s hard to say anything more about this without knowing the quantities and your activity level.

Holypricks · 31/01/2024 15:59

I think that’s a lot of fruit sugar. I’d be inclined to have a piece of cheese or some nuts

SKG231 · 31/01/2024 16:01

I think it sounds pretty good tbh.

if you wanted to make small changes maybe switch up your milk to soya, coconut, oat etc.

and switch out one of your pieces of fruit for cucumber, carrot, pepper or celery sticks?

Why do you suggest that?

Why would you substitute normal milk for oat milk? It's higher in calories and thickened with oil.

Both cows and soy milk are relatively high in fat. The primary difference is that soymilk is higher in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, while cow milk is higher in saturated fatty acids. Research has shown that consuming products high in saturated fatty acids, like dairy fats, may increase the risks of cardiovascular disease (CVD). On the contrary, both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats might offer numerous benefits for your heart. These include regulating cholesterol levels and alleviating cardiovascular inflammation.

Is anyone willing to give me a rough eating diary of when they eat while loosing weight?

This is my typical breakfast, I eat overnight oats/rye every day. Stuff in Swedish is:
RÃ¥gflingor rolled rye/rye flakes
Honung - honey
solrosfrön - sunflower seeds
fjällfil - a kind of kefir/yoghurt

I'm 5 foot 4 and very similar weight. 10 years older than you. I think I would stay the same on that, possibly lose weight v v slowly depending on portion size

CortieTat · 31/01/2024 16:26

Snacks - two coffees with milk. I eat very little dairy and only eat gluten when I’m naughty.
The total adds up to 1550 kcal and this much makes me lose weight. I usually eat more.

I would lose weight on that diet. Not quickly but over time I would lose. I'm the same height as you and 10:8 ish.

I do walk for over an hour a day to get at least 10,000 steps in. I also do some short runs and two strength sessions.

Viewfrommyhouse · 31/01/2024 16:58

Unless you're in calorie deficit, you won't lose weight. Track your calories on MFP to get an idea of what you're actually consuming.

ChedderGorgeous · 31/01/2024 17:40

What do people think about a small amount of wine in the week? No one has included on their diet plans (obviously! ). One day a week and not in excess? Wine on a Wednesday for example. Its a kcal hit but would alcohol effect your cal deficit later in the week? I'm assuming not.

It's no different to food. Everything is fine if you Equate for it.

I drink wine once in a couple of months. Usually we share a bottle with DH over two nights, so 1/4 of a bottle in one go - it’s very easy to accommodate within my normal calorie limit. I used to drink much more but decided to limit my intake three years ago for health reasons.

Menora · 31/01/2024 19:59

@ChedderGorgeous it makes me really pissed now so I avoid it. Like unwell and sleepy. I stick to low cal g&t

Broodywuz · 06/02/2024 11:57

Sorry I didn't come back sooner.
Yes probably too much sugar as people are pointing out, I'll try to swap some of the fruit for vegetables. I do have a very sweet tooth and feel the fruit helps me not fall off the wagon and hit the chocolate, same with my evening hot chocolate but to loose a bit quicker I'm probably going to have to drop that too.

I'm not looking to loose a huge amount, 1 stone ideally but would be happy with 10lb. I've tried so many fad diets in the past and can never stick to them, then land up binging and putting on more after so something sustainable that I can stick to long term is definitely key for me. I've upped my walking, so hoping that will help.

Any other tips please throw them my way.

Try intermittent fasting. Maybe 16:8. It’s worked really well for me & I still eat quite a lot.

I think I will give this a shot. I have dinner quite early with the kids then don't tend to eat in the evening anyway so if I can cut out the hot chocolate 16 hours would be quite easy for me.
Do you basically just cut out breakfast or do you still eat 3 meals in 8 hours?
