Having big problems with food :(

I've managed to lose about a stone since christmas but I'm starting to struggle.

My goal is 10 stone and I currently weigh 10st 13lb. I can't see to get any lower but my old addiction to food is coming back.

For instance I've just had a beef sandwich in a brown bread roll and after it I was sat there thinking about food and lying to myself that I was still hungry.

So I ate an apple but my mind is still telling me there is chocolate in the cupboard. Normally I manage to hold off the urge until the kids are in bed then I just eat as much as I can on a night its starting to depress me because I think all the weight I've lost is going to start creeping back on.

How do you control an addiction to fatty food?

i'm just trying Derren brown's book/cd combo - i got it from the library. it works on four 'rules' - eat when you are hungry, stop eating when you are full, enjoy every mouthful and ur i've forgotten the fourth one. but he gives you exercises to do exactly what you are asking, stopping specific cravings, using what sound like neuro-linguistic programming techniques. so far i have listened to the cd once and read the book once, and both times that i've forgotten the stop eating rule i have felt dreadfully full and yuck (when normally i'm sure i could have gone on and on.) on that basis, i reckon it's worth a try....

i have 2.5 stones to lose - booooo - gained in the last 2 years. so i'm jealous of your weight!

grinningsoul do you really mean Derren Brown? Not Paul McKenna?

I don't buy anything I like so I don't get tempted - therefore the family get lots of coconut rings, chocolate wafer biscuits, anything with marzipan. It might be mean but hey, I've sacrificed my taut belly skin, they are not getting my hips as well!
However, easter poses a problem.........all that lovely chocolate lurking in the cupboards.
Try cleaning your teeth, you can't eat straight after and you never know you might have forgotten about it by the time the mint taste wears off

I don't know. I stave off the cravings only by cutting out carbs. It works but it's hard to get used to.

Otherwise I tend to eat more or less what I want and excercise it off. But it's a bugger isn't it?
