I've started Ozempic and have began losing some lbs. I have binge eating disorder and I'm not feeling hungry but I'm craving a chocolate and also potatoes. I've not had any side effects.

Does anyone on Ozempic have carbs or sugar ? I know I cant have it daily but maybe once in a week. I've gone from eating lots of food to just having salad

Why can't you have carbs?

fatandhappy47 · 19/01/2024 16:09

The idea of ozempic is it makes you feel fuller quicker

Nowhere does it states no carbs or chocolate or just salad

Healthy diet

I'm taking it for weight loss and diabetes management so thought I need to have no carbs.

I’m on Ozempic (almost 60lbs down) and eat potatoes. Favourite way is to chip them, toss on a little olive oil and lots of salt and pepper, and then Airfry. Low calorie, low fat, and very filling.

I’ve lost my taste for chocolate so very rarely eat it but I work to a calories deficit and, while I eat very sensibly 95% of the time, I know that once I stick to my calories for the day I can eat pretty much anything.

I couldn’t survive on just salad. That’s not sustainable.

It is good you have asked for support here but do you not have a medical team supporting you in what your diet ought to be for your diabetes?

I really don’t think it’s a good idea to take advice from us you have a medical condition and people endorsing you to eat carbs might not be right for your diabetes. Can you book a review to ask a health care professional

Hi can I ask where you've been prescribed it?

@Menora - your advice is v sensible; low carb can be a good way to go for diabetes as I have diabetes and there's a lot of literature around high protein low carb. Anything that reduces blood sugar levels is going to be beneficial so sweet potato versus white potato; wholemeal vs. white varieties etc. But yes, the OPs medical team can advise. However GLP-1 (the active ingredient in Semaglutide) can lower blood sugar levels so the OP needs advice as to what would suit them best. I would talk to my GP or Diabetic Needs Team or Endocrinologist depending on who prescribed the drug in the first place....
