Nothing seems to fill me up. I can east a roast dinner and not be full up. I could easily eat 2 but I would be huge. I can eat so much. I do eat so much.

Is there something wrong with me ?

My nana would have said worms!

Do you think you may have something wrong?

Or have you just got used to eating large portions? If you eat a lot of processed food, it will take more of it to feel full. But feeling full isn't really such a good thing anyway!

Might just be habit, you can train yourself to eat less, do it gradually. Personally carbs and sugar seem to make me more hungry (I am in my 50s). I find Greek yogurt, scrambled eggs cooked in butter (any egg dish really), a heaped teaspoon of crunchy peanut butter (the best quality you can afford), tinned fish (especially sardines) all satisfy hunger. Otherwise just heap your plate with veg and protein the size of your palm. If you are hungry enough a bowl of chickpeas, onions and spinach will taste delicious and help you lose weight.

This sounds good.

But failing that, maybe hypnosis would help

Try a big glass of water roughly half hour before eating.

Cut out sugar and carbs that dont work for you. Google ghrelin and leptin, if you control your insulin response, you can switch your 'full' receptors back on.

If its just nice things you could eat large amounts of I.e a roast dinner, crisps, chocolate, high carb meals etc. then I think it's likely a learned addictive behaviour that can be unlearned.
On the other hand, if you genuinely never get full and would eat continuously no matter what the food (or even non food) item is then that's completely different and should be discussed with your GP.

You're eating the wrong foods

Food is supposed to fill you up

Nsky62 · 16/01/2024 20:19

Possibly Prada William syndrome?

eatdrinkandbemerry · 16/01/2024 20:21

You need to eat very little for a while to train your tummy into feeling full.
Then you will feel satisfied with a normal portion.

PaminaMozart · 16/01/2024 20:26

Do you eat a lot of refined carbs, sugar, UPF? All these are of low nutritional value, which would explain why you don't feel satisfied.

Your body is crying out for real nutrition. In addition, constant eating feeds cravings for yet more food.

Try intermittent fasting.
Eat mostly vegetables and lean protein.
Small amounts of healthy fats, dairy and complex carbs.
Don't drink calories.

Start drinking more water. Are you genuinely hungry or just want to eat more food. I’m the latter. I find once I’m a couple of weeks into my diet my appetite does reduce. I do need something sweet after lunch and dinner though, to finish it off. Usually it’s a mini choc bar, or some Oppo ice cream which I’m addicted to. I then have a cup of tea and try and put food out of mind until the next meal

NewYearNewPyjamas · 17/01/2024 08:22

I'm the same. I think it's because I basically live on carbs so it's burnt straightaway or stored as fat. Eat more meat and drink before you eat. I'll try it too Blush
