Avoiding a saggy bod? Is that even possible?

Hi everyone!
I've been overweight for most of my adult life and now I've just turned 49 and am tipping the scales at 16stone, I'm feeling really motivated to make this the year of change. I'm on day three of a sensible eating plan and have filled up the fridge and freezer with good healthy options, done a bit of a meal plan and so far, so good. I'm loosely following the principles of SW but making sure I top up with lots of good veg etc. I'm keeping the goals realistic and just focusing on changing my yo-yo/binge mindset rather than having a big dramatic weight loss (that I'll inevitably put back on again if I do it too quickly).

Anyway, just thinking about my poor saggy body! Years of excess weight and I worry what I'll look like when I lose a few stone. I have big boobs and worry about the deflated effect plus as I carry more weight around my stomach, if there'll be an overhang afterwards.

In general I seem to have good skin genes, no obvious facial or neck wrinkles and people often think I'm younger than I am so I'm kinda hoping this will be an indicator of skin with more elasticity! Or so I keep telling myself 😬😬

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has shifted 4 or 5 stone at a similar age and what the consequences were? Were you left with loads of extra skin? Is there anything I can do now to minimise this?

Hello, yes I will be losing 4.5st when I finish, I’ve lost just over 3

I am 43 and bottom heavy. I don’t have the best skin elasticity I got a lot of stretch marks from pregnancies.

My boobs are less huge now so a bit less saggy than before though. I was a 38DD now I am 34B/C.

My stomach looks a lot better than it did and I had a hysterectomy so I can never get rid of a bit of pooch.

However I really hate my very saggy, now quite flat, pale wrinkly bum! So I am focussing on toning that up

the overall effect is that some bits are better than others so don’t give up all hope. Good luck!

I've lost six stone since last March as well as turning 50 and I look like I've been run over by a tarmac machine when I'm naked 😂😂 having said that, I wouldn't want to go back to the weight I was in a million years op so I just see the saggy arms legs tum, well everything as part of my life. Good for you making a start , it is so hard to lose weight isn't it ! I would try not to worry about the skin as you will feel so much healthier OP
Good luck !

I'm mid 50s and have lost 7 stone with another couple to go. I hardly have any loose skin. A bit on my stomach but I had some any way from having a baby. I carry my weight very evenly and hardly have any lines so I might just have elastic skin but don't let the thought of loose skin stop you losing the weight. I do heavy strength training 4 times a week at the gym so I think that helps too.

Even if I'd ended up with loads of excess skin it would have been worth it, my life and appearance have been transformed.

I've lost 6 stone in the past three years, most of it in the past nine months (with Wegovy + drastic reduction in calorie intake). Just turned 50.
I was worried about sag but it's not been too bad. Yes I have a bit of a turkey neck now but small price to pay. I carried a lot on my belly and boobs but honestly my figure is quite nice now. I had overhang from 2 c sections anyway but it's shrinking slowly. In the autumn I caught sight of myself naken in a brutally lit hotel bathroom and I didn't love it, my poor body looked a bit melted... But I swear it's tightening up OK over time. Or I'm just getting used to it. I'm not very fit and I don't have the best skin, fair and it was getting a bit papery.
Either way a bit of sag is so, so much better than the alternative.

I feel that protein, oily fish, good supplements and oral collagen throughout my weight loss journey has made a difference to my skin. I've also been quite religious about moisturizing my whole body, and before my last holiday I used fake tan mousse all over and got some decent supportive + cute underwear. I felt so good.
Best of luck to you! It's life changing.

Shape wear was designed for the flabby bits, not the fat bits :)

Just 2 stone lost here but aged 59 and post menopause, I knew I was going to get saggy but saggy is better then fat. The tummy and boobs arent the worse, its the bum and arms, Im now a woman who looks for sleeves :)

Exercise will help - some
