I had a beautiful son earlier in December and am 6.5kg (just over a stone) up on my pre-pregnancy weight. I have let myself stuff my face post birth with all of the Christmas treats, but I really need to get back on track with a healthier way of eating to feel better in my own skin. I'm breastfeeding, so need to stick to about 1800 calories per day in order to slowly lose but maintain my milk supply.

So the plan is- start gentle core and pelvic floor work with some walks. I have done nothing up until now!

350 calories for breakfast- I always have some variation of overnight oats as I love them and from previous calorie counting, a bowl with extras usually comes in at this
300- 400 calories for lunch- sandwich, soup, omlette, salads, etc
200 calories snack- fruit and yogurt or veggie sticks and hummus or chocolate bar if I really need one
Home cooked dinner- we often do hello fresh which is about 5-800 ish calories per meal, but DH gets a larger portion than me, so I'll get about 600ish calories worth
Before bed- snack of usually porridge, but not limited to this, as i also enjoy a decaf tea and biscuits, fruit salad and Greek yogurt, small cake, etc 300ish calorie allowance.

I ate this way to lose the last few stubborn pounds from my first pregnancy whilst breastfeeding so know that it works, I just have a bit more to lose this time around!

Today's been good! Weighed in this morning at 65.8kg, GW is 60

Breakfast was overnight oats with berries
Lunch was an omlette with 20g cheddar cheese and salad
Snack was a cup of tea and a chocolate hobnob
Dinner was stir fried beef and veg with rice
Evening snack I've just had chocolate baked oats

That's 1600 calories so I still have a little wiggle room for an apple or something if I'm feeding during the night and hungry

I also walked for 20 minutes on the treadmill. Going to do treadmill walks until I'm 8-10 weeks postpartum, then I'm going to start C25K

Hey. If it makes you feel better, I had my first baby in July and only just now feeling like I can do something about losing the extra stone I gained. Amazing for you if you feel ready, but be gentle with yourself and don't feel the need to rush. Newborns are hard work and any spare time I had, I just wanted to flop for the first few months. And often just ate biscuits because it was easier and quicker than making lunch 😂😂

I honestly think a stone over pregnancy weight only a month or less after the birth of your child is unusual and you should chill out at this point! Your milk supply will be best if you eat well and don't worry about your weight at least for the first few months after birth or 'fourth trimester'. Go easy on yourself.

Wouldn't such a small amount just drop off naturally over the next couple of months as your body adjusts back to normal?

If like to join. I have two stone to lose. A few weeks postpartum I had a stone to lose and somehow managed to gain another stone in five months. I'm very ashamed of myself for allowing this to happen. Although, on a more positive note, I've lost 2.7kg in the last 14 days.

Also, please be careful with C25k that early postpartum. Many pelvic floor physiotherapists don't recommend running until around six months postpartum as your body is still full of relaxin and your pelvic floor won't have fully regained its strength. You could cause pelvic floor dysfunction such as stress incontinence or prolapse.
