Hi,

Not sure if this was the correct thread but as part of me trying to kick start a healthier and happier me. I've decided to try to kick the caffeine habit, I usually have one latte every day (on occasion twice a day) and aside from it costing an absolute bomb, I think it's affecting my skin too (I have rosacea) so I'm trying to eliminate various things in the hope it'll help.

I'm just hoping for any advice on how to push through the caffeine cravings, I went about 5 days without due to having this horrific illness over Christmas and ever since having covid last year it's always had that "ash tray" taste. my question apologies for the vent, how do I push through the cravings and what should I expect?

I do still love the odd cup of tea but kicking the coffee/just popping for a latte habit would be a major achievement for me.

Start by drinking 25% decaf then increase to 50, then 70 etc. over a number of weeks.

Or go cold turkey and pop some caffeine free ibuprofen.

Could it be all the milk in the latte that’s affecting your skin? Too much dairy causes my eczema to flare up

Whats the reason you want to cut the caffeine out?

I cant have caffeine because of a diagnosed condition but tons of societies across the world have higher caffeine intakes than one latte a day and they tend to be healthier than us

Agreed with others, its probably the milk that is causing the skin issues

Hi,

It's more for healthier benefits and hoping it might help me regain some clearer skin (plus the fact it costs loads).

I think I just need to cut it down so it's not every day 🫣

I did it by gradually switching to decaf, so I didn't lose the proper coffee habit. I now drink fresh ground decaf from a hipster coffee place, so I still have that little ritual but sleeping better and no headaches. I drink it black though so no idea about milk.

I don't think one latte is not a lot, probably the quantity is a lot more than homemade one so there is a lot of milk? I used to do this until I got my own coffee machine have saved money making my own. You can also change the coffee strength and use non dairy milk if you want.
