How long did it take for you to lose the Christmas/holiday weight gain last year??

If you can remember, trying to make myself feel better and positive before the dreaded weigh in tomorrow!

I can usually kick it within a couple of weeks. But I don't have all off December "off" just 23rd onwards

DinosaurPotato · 31/12/2023 14:57

Mid-march. I'm already showing at up one stone in 8 days. yay!!

Forgotmylogindetails · 31/12/2023 14:58

I didn’t I’m still fat.

shearwater2 · 31/12/2023 14:58

It was gone by the next weigh in after holiday, a week later. Just water retention I think from extra food/alcohol consumption.

Gowlett · 31/12/2023 15:07

I was fine after Christmas last year. But chowed down during January & February. Then continued until Easter…

Vegetus · 31/12/2023 15:09

It's just water, glycogen and maybe a bit of fat, chill out about it!

People don't get fat from what happens between Christmas and new years day (unless they're injecting goose fat into their veins) they get fat because of what happens from new years day to Christmas!

OutYerEd · 31/12/2023 15:10

I eat like a complete pig for about two weeks over Christmas and gain about 5-7 lbs (haven’t weighed myself yet as still eating crap). It’s usually off by third week in January - eating sensibly, moving more, out at work all day etc and it comes off without too much effort.

This!

DinosaurPotato · 31/12/2023 15:13

For me I do actually gain a shed load. I have to go back to eating 12-400 calories for at least 2.5 months to get back to pre Dec 23rd!

Vegetus · 31/12/2023 15:25

I'm not calling you a liar but unless you're a 4ft sedentary 90 year old I don't believe you need that few calories to lose weight. The maths don't add up for you to gain that much in such a short period of time. Let's be generous and say out of that stone 10 pounds are fat... It's a 35000 calorie surplus in little over week!

DinosaurPotato · 31/12/2023 15:27

I know, the maths doesn't work, but it's the same every christmas/holiday. You're right some will come off quickly, but a good chunk is fat. I'm not even short! I just eat 50,000 Lindors.

Haha, love that! So true though!

I was 10st 4lb on the 1st January this year and lost half a stone by the beginning of March.

Will weigh in tomorrow morning.........

HowDoYouMakeThem · 31/12/2023 17:47

I put on 2.5kg this year, which wasn't as much as I was expecting as I stuffed my face.

But I didn't start the excess until 23rd December and stopped 30th when we finished most of our socialising and family commitments.

I'm still enjoying the last of the stollen etc but in a normal amount.......a slice a day rather than a massive chunk 😂

BurntOrange · 31/12/2023 17:54

It always initially appears like I've put on a stone after eating what I want for 7-10 days over Christmas. After a week of normality the actual weight gain tends to be about 5 pounds. Hopefully it'll be gone by Feb half term!

Jeannie88 · 31/12/2023 18:07

Erm still working on it from 2021!

S3v3n · 31/12/2023 19:30

Surely a lot of this will be water weight! And will drop off in the first week of being back to normal

I don't weight myself until a week into January, to give time for the water weight to go. I think if I weighed myself now, I'd be about 7/8lbs up, but in reality I'm hoping it's only about 3/4lbs & I'm aiming for that to go by mid Jan/beginning of Feb

BaconAndAvocado · 01/01/2024 09:48

S3v3n
I'm currently 9st 11sy so half a stone less than 1st January 2023!

I've indulged a lot over the past few weeks but definitely haven't eaten as many mince pies as last year!
