Feeling terrible on Wegovy 4th week

I took my last 0.25 dose on Saturday and since then I've been feeling really sick, dizzy, have heartburn and just generally feeling unwell.

I LOVE coffee and drink it in gallons but I cannot stomach it at the moment and I hear this is quite a common side effect of Wegovy. The caffeine withdrawal is probably making me feel unwell too.

I'm hardly eating and feel nauseous after anything I do force down.

I said to my DH that I didn't think it was worth taking it anymore cos I feel so bad but then I felt my flatter stomach and changed my mind 😂

I have been mostly fine on it for the last three weeks but this week has been awful.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or has anyone got any tips on how to deal with the nausea?

I'm sure I've read on a thread that someone got anti sickness medication from their GP to cope with the nausea/vomiting they were experiencing. The caffeine withdrawal will be horrendous but I would have thought you'd be ok by now on that front. It sounds awful. Hope you feel better soon!

Took my first 0.25 dose on Wednesday and had a headache slightly after which went away. But dealing with diarrhoea because I take a whole host of medications and vitamins. I have yet to weigh myself and have been writing a food diary so I know exactly what is going on my body and how it may affect me. I personally would stick at it if it is giving results.. I'm in the position where I need to drop weight for health and mobility reasons.

Where did you get it?
a colleague in work got some on Facebook- wasn’t overweight and ended up in hospital.

Thanks all for your replies and well wishes ❤️

@Janedoe82 I got it from Boots. I'm not brave (or daft?) enough to buy it from anywhere else. There was a story on the news of a woman who bought it from Facebook. She ended up in hospital too because it was a syringe full of insulin. She's so lucky to not have lost her life.

This is a typical side effect tbh you need to learn to live with it if you carry on. I don’t agree with asking your GP for meds, they did not prescribe this medication so would be doubtful many would give you anti sickness. you could go through an online pharmacy and pay? You have to eliminate all the triggers. This is why I stopped taking it I felt horrible all the time

It's horrible isn't it. I'm actually allergic to a lot of anti sickness meds so wouldn't take them anyway.

You're right, I'll either have to put up with it or stop taking it I think.

Don’t up your dose at this point if you do carry on. I found 0.5mg to be like this and I would actually vomit and had terrible gallbladder pains! Eat little portions and drink sips of water. Part of the issue is delayed gastric emptying so my stomach was full for hours and hours which is why I couldn’t tolerate more food. I lost a lot of weight but felt sick all the time. I still lose weight now but incredibly slowly in a calorie deficit

take a reflux medication see if that helps. I took the generic nexium from Tescos it’s far cheaper!

A very small number of people do get bad side effects from the drug so I would suggest you remain at 0.25 especially if it's having an appetite suppressant effect. You'll build up a tolerance.

Im in my 4th week too- I finished off what was in syringe so it was probably a larger dose and that’s why I have been so sick this week, actually vomitying. I am meant to move up tomorrow but I’m not going to. My weight loss is slow- just 8lb but I’d rather it was slow than I felt sick.

AhBiscuits · 22/12/2023 16:18

I had the same in my 4th week, was sick a couple of times. I moved up to 0.5 anyway and had another rough few days. My second 0.5 was fine. You need to tough it out and get through it and your body will get used to it.
Look at what you're eating. Eat VERY lightly and low fat on days 1-3 post injection.

Payakan · 22/12/2023 20:21

Are you eating low carb? You are not meant to on Ozempic.

EC22 · 23/12/2023 10:20

My prescriber told me to eat low carb on wegovy.

Payakan · 23/12/2023 18:57

I listened to an interview of the original researcher who did the trial . Because Ozempic increases insulin you should have complex carbohydrates, so not the cookies and crisps, to deal with the insulin, in order to lessen the side effects . A complex carb is an apple , chickpeas or rolled oats.
