My c section pouch/overhang that is.

I am 10 months post partum. 2 children, 2 c sections.

I am overjoyed that I am now back to 9 stone which is my pre baby and pre wedding weight!! I work out hard and eat well. Lots of protein, still eat carbs, minimal processed foods.

I do a mix of cardio and strength training.

Overall, I'm in good shape. Quite toned and muscular in some areas. But my biggest issue is my stomach area. Whilst my loose overhang has definitely reduced, it is still very much there and makes me look and feel bigger than I actually am.
Covered up and in the right clothes, you'd never even know I had an overhang.

What am I missing? Will it ever disappear?

10 minute solution: flat belly fast. I think it's on youtube

10 pp is still early, but it’s likely stretched skin and more pronounced depending on where the incision was made and how it healed. you won’t be able to diet or exercise it off.

Bluelightbaby · 10/12/2023 22:28

It might not. Even at my absolute fittest I still had my mummy tummy and my kids are late teens !

Curlywurlycaz2 · 10/12/2023 22:37

You will need surgery to remove it completely. I've had two csections too. Only so much can be done with weight loss. It's not all fat, it is loose skin.

Thanks all. I definitely feel that it's loose skin rather than fat. Just wondered if there was any way of getting rid other than surgery 😩😩
It really gets me down!

10 months post partum is still so early. It takes 2 years to fully heal from carrying a baby. Give yourself time and continue to eat well and exercise.

if it persists- surgery is unfortunately the only way. If it literally is just the overhang then it should come under a ‘mini tummy tuck’ if you are shopping about.

Do not waste your money on any creams or lotions or shape wear designed to eliminate it.

Make sure that you don’t have any muscle separation before doing abs exercises, especially planks and pushups can make post-partum muscle separation worse! Also, I’m afraid you need to be realistic. Closing separated abs takes a long time and the skin stays stretched. I have two children and my belly looks good, it took a lot of hard work to have toned abs. It still looks different and sticks out more with some loose skin than when I was twenty and childless.

Thank you for the replies!!

@CortieTat do you have any recommendations for DI friendly exercises? I do have slight ab separation. It has definitely improved over the last 6 months since I've taken my training a bit more seriously but still room for improvement.

Didn't have diastasis recti with my first but definitely have had it with my second pregnancy.

Unfortunately I don’t remember many, my youngest is now 7! Everything that works on transverse abs will help. One exercise I remember is the stomach vacuum - it’s easy and can be done anywhere during the day. It helps to pull the belly so much in that you can feel the back muscles working, these are the transverse abs in action.
