How do I get rid of my belly bulge?

I have managed to lose two stones and just have a few more pounds of weight to loose. I am really proud of losing the weight but when I tried a skirt today it actually showed the belly bulge sort of lower belly bulge which is something I would like to reduce. Can anyone help me out with what worked for you or even suggestions please?
Thanks

Well done on your weight loss btw...

Thanks ! I too had a caesarean so not sure if it is related to that.

I have the same issue. So following with interest. Only thing I’m thinking is start some abs exercises but not sure if that will help or not.

Well done on your weight loss, that’s an amazing loss.

You can’t spot reduce fat. To loose the tummy (fat) you’ll have to reduce your body fat (weight) further.

Resistance training will help - I do body pump classes 3 x per week and it’s completely changed my body shape & given me muscle definition.

I think

@NorthernSpirit thank you! I have a couple of injuries so can't do a lot of gym. I will definitely try resistance training!

Hey OP, well done on your weight loss.

I have a caesarian pouch. Skirts definitely highlight the lower belly bulge on me too!

It does get a bit better when I'm disciplined with my exercise & diet (I run & do resistance/weights) but it's ever present.

Ive read it's adhesions related to the scar that give the pouch and sadly there's very little you can do once it's healed that way, other than further surgery 🤷🏼‍♀️

I recommend resistance work, positive mental attitude & shapewear!

I’ve lost nearly five stone. I have gone down four dress sizes, but I too am plagued with tummy fat, it also has stretch marks and hangs down (TMI!) I would do anything to lose it but the last nine pounds or so just won’t budge despite keeping to the diet and swimming four times a week for an hour at a time. I also sit ups on the bed using a large elastic band to help

i do sympathise

Reducing body fat overall by increasing muscle mass will help. Mixture of cardio exercise (can be low impact), weights and yoga/pilates is best.

Whether your tummy becomes flat or not I'd work on building a strong pelvic platform to prevent posture and back problems. We all lose muscle mass from our 30s onwards so maintaining and building it with exercise is more important than ever.

I've lost just over a stone recently but my waist has gone down to 30" from 34"- even though I have been slightly lighter than I am now in the last few years my waist was not that size. It's doing weights and cardio which has made the difference for me in terms of body fat changes, I already did yoga anyway.

Well done!

Seeing off those last few lbs will help.

But if it's a legacy of CS scar and skin that has stretched a bit, then the answer is spanx. They won't make you smaller, but will smooth out any remaining odd lumpy bits.

Also, even though you can't spot reduce, generally getting fitter and more toned will help (all over!) Try exercises for abs, particularly oblique abs? Not a magic bullet, but might help a bit.

I have a flat stomach for the first time in my life (I'm in my 50s).

I lost 5 stone, did endless cardio/ weights/ core work, but the only thing that sorted the loose skin and post- caesarian bulge was a tummy tuck (which I realise is quite drastic!).

waistchallenge · 07/12/2023 17:35

For me it did go in the end but it was the very last thing.

Unfortunately at the weight I had to reach to lose it I didn't look good, some people asked if I was ill and my chest bones stuck out too much.

I then put some back on deliberately and look better again. I'd like a tummy tuck but can't afford it.

Anyway the point is sometimes a bit of a rounded tummy is part of being healthy and not necessarily all bad.

I’ve had a hysterectomy after 2 pregnancies and up and down weight gain and I don’t think I can lose this loose tummy pouch at all, ever unless I had surgery. The stomach area above it looks really good and slightly defined now but under the belly button is a blob of jelly wobble. I just reassure myself it looks better than it did before and going to focus on toning up my bum instead. Planning on wearing flattering swimwear on holiday and strong pants with dresses if need be.

Botani · 12/12/2023 19:33

Thanks to all those who replied. I don't think I will ever have surgery may be will buy flare skirts. Well done to all on losing the weight.
