Wegovy vs Ozempic

Hey everyone I wondered if anyone has tried both of these ?

I tried ozempic a few months ago. I did well on the 0.25 dose. In fact it didn't really affect me or my appetite.

When I increased to 0.5, I got really really sick for a few days. Huge headaches. Continuous vomiting and I basically had to stay in bed for a couple of days.

I therefore decided it wasn't for me.

May I fahr better with Wegovy ? I know the active ingredient is the same, so the result will probably be the same ?

I really need help losing weight.

It's exactly the same drug, just licensed differently. The drug is called semaglutide. Ozempic is licenced for diabetes and Wegovy weight loss but it's exactly the same.

RunningAndSinging · 16/11/2023 09:40

They should be exactly the same but anecdotally on here and from my own experience it seems that changing from Ozempic to Wegovy has increased the side effects a bit for some people.

moonshinestars · 16/11/2023 09:45

That was my suspicion.

I feel bad as I have ozempic left in my fridge.

Maybe I chickened out too soon and I just have to put up with the side effects until my body gets used to it ?

I'm so desperate to lose weight. Something needs to change and I just can't do it on my own.

its been more or less the same for me.
how did you 'do well' on ozempic if it didn't affect your appetite? If it helped, why wouldn't you stay on 0.25mg?

Movinghouseatlast · 16/11/2023 09:50

Did you lose weight on .25? If so stick to that.

Wegovy is exactly the same. It just has a different name for weight loss.

Where are you getting this stuff? From your GO?
If not, watch the BBC programme about just how dodgy the knock off stuff is.

moonshinestars · 16/11/2023 09:52

I just meant I didn't have side effect like puking my guts out on 0.25. But yeah seeing as it made no difference to my appetite at that dose, there's no point in it.

I think I'm gona try again and see how I go. I'll reorder a month worth of 0.25

I got it from juniper

I see that boots offers Wegovy. I didn't even try the GP as I assumed they wouldn't offer it to me anyway!

Knock off wegovy?! I really don't think that's a thing that is happening. It's easy to get a private prescription of wegovy.

Bobtheamazinggingerdog · 16/11/2023 10:02

I did find a site selling wegovy for absurdly cheap when it was first released but my common sense told me it must be fake. It's really easy to get on prescription now, only idiots would think it was worth buying it 'cheap' from random sites

moonshinestars · 16/11/2023 10:04

I think juniper and boots are likely to be legit though, right ? My ozempic isn't labelled in English because there were shortages at that time, so it's an Eastern European language on the injections. I'm not sure which language it is. Maybe Czech.

Juniper explained it was because of the shortages.

It is according to the BBC whose reporter investigated various “beauty therapists” offering it and the BBC’s medical adviser.

Of course it is - anything thats worth money and is hard to get hold of is rife for faking

MHRA warns of unsafe fake weight loss pens

Fake, potentially harmful Ozempic and Saxenda pens have been found in the UK: you should only access weight loss medicines via a medical prescription.

Just because fake wegovy exists doesn't mean it's a prevalent problem.
when there were shortages I can see that people may have been likely to fall for fakes. Is it really an issue now though? Are people buying fake wegovy in large numbers?

The shortages are worse than ever now. I don't expect to fill my script until December 2024.
