Will this 'diet' result in weight loss?

I am thee worst at weight loss, worst at sticking to it and bad knowledge of weight loss.

I've always struggled with my weight & struggled with disordered eating throughout the years.

There's times I go through eating 500 calories a day for weeks or 5000 calories a day for weeks. I have a starve-binge cycle, I struggle to eat a normal 1500 calories a day because I just think this weight loss will take forever.

I've had a good long chat with myself and worked out what will benefit me in the long run.

I've decided 1400-1500 calories a day involving a high protein diet. & any exercise I can get it, walking & @ home workouts etc. I would love to go the gym but I'm not there with confidence yet.

Does eating in a calorie deficit & a high protein diet result in weight loss? I don't have a good knowledge of it all, my weight loss throughout the years has only been unhealthy.

I’ve lost 5 stone since march so I’d say YES.
I’m also post menopausal which makes it even more wondrous

@FannyBawz that's amazing! What have you been doing?

you don't need a high protein diet to lose weight and unless you're body building you don't need excess protein. However a low carb high protein diet will help you avoid hunger pangs. If you're in a calorie deficit you'll lose weight. Just don't expect to lose more than 1-2lb a week or you'll get disappointed and lose motivation.

One pound a week is up to 52 pounds a year, or 3st 10lb. That's not nothing. And it's sustainable, which could solve your problem.

I’ve lost 5 1/2 stone since April on 1650. Caveat I am breastfeeding a 2 year old and go to the gym at least 4 times a week (sometimes 6-7).
500 cals is insane. 1500 is much more realistic, but depending on your weight try 1600 first.

Why are you aiming for high protein?

TheWitche · 05/11/2023 15:08

High protein is important for muscle repair and keeping you fuller for longer. I eat high protein and would recommend!

Keto. It’s not a drastic diet, it’s been the easiest diet ever. And the first time I’ve not been a total pig over food, I just don’t get hugely hungry like I used to.

Pilates every day.
Swimming weekly.

it’s amazing. I had a 700 calorie omelette for breakfast at 11am (fully loaded with broccoli feta and chicken) and am not sure I need dinner.

💪💪💪

So because of my age, I kept to 1300/day because I really did put it all on my waist and was worried about it.

Loubilou23 · 06/11/2023 15:53

I lost 3 stone eating about 1800 calories a day of whatever I wanted. I worked out soon enough that protein filled me up more as did volume eating. When I try to cut down too much I give up after a few weeks but sticking to average of 1800 a day over the week (i.e. somedays I would have 1500 to give me 2100 on a weekend for example) then I managed to keep to it until I had lost the 3 stone.

I did about 2 hours of movement a day.

Edited to add that it took me about 9 months - lost about 1lb a week
