I'm seriously considering it. Is it sensible to try if your BMI is 31?

For those interested here are some of the feeding studies published by Kevin Hall
https://www.cell.com/cell-metabolism/pdf/S1550-4131(15)00350-2.pdf

In summary, we found that selective reduction of dietary carbohydrate resulted in decreased insulin secretion, increased fat oxidation, and increased body fat loss compared to a eucaloric baseline diet. In contrast, selective isocaloric reduction of dietary fat led to no significant changes in insulin secretion or fat oxidation compared to the eucaloric baseline diet, but significantly more body fat was lost than during the carbohydrate-restricted diet.

And on appetite : https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-01209-1
We found that the low-fat diet led to 689 ± 73 kcal d−1 less energy intake than the low-carbohydrate diet over 2 weeks

What does it mean? Just that it is far more complex than just blaming insulin. It is the food.

Ozempic was originally and still is a drug for diabetes. Most of them are insulin resistant.

Effect of a plant-based, low-fat diet versus an animal-based, ketogenic diet on ad libitum energy intake - Nature Medicine

In an inpatient, randomized controlled crossover trial, participants consumed 550–700 kcal day−1 fewer calories when following a plant-based, low-fat diet with a high glycemic load compared with an animal-based, low-carbohydrate diet with a low glycemi...

I have often thought about using something like this

So you still obv need to eat healthily but you feel less hungry ?

What's the average price of one per week /month

And guess need to do it for 6mths or so to get a good effect ?

Thanks

Gosh, reading these posts re insulin I don't get it at all, I feel like 🤪

I'm going to have to read them a few times and concentrate.

clpsmum · 21/10/2023 14:05

I've just ordered for the first time 😬

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 21/10/2023 16:38

@clpsmum
Where did you order from? I think you can book a private consultation to get prescription?

Yes, you have to diet but it's easy because you lose interest in food, you aren't really hungry. I probably eat a third less than I used to. I need to eat 1200 calories a day to lose weight and I simply can't do it without this.

Have a look on the websites for prices-it's around £180 a month at the moment but I have paid £300 when there were shortages.

clpsmum · 21/10/2023 16:47

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 21/10/2023 16:49

@clpsmum

Save your money and go low carb. It’s basically the same metabolic mechanism. It really helped me with hunger. I can skip meals now comfortably whereas I couldn’t before.

Agree. Don’t put unnecessary drugs into your body. Go low carb/Keto and retrain your habits.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2023 16:54

£180 a month ish sounds ouch

But be interested if works

QueenOfTheSouthh · 10/04/2024 14:38

@clpsmum how did it work out for you?

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 11/04/2024 21:27

@QueenOfTheSouthh
I purchased online mid month and have lost 8lb in a month. Quite happy with that.
I did get every side effect going though, but now feel fine. Just not starving hungry all the time!
