Life after ozempic

Just wondering if there are others that have come off ozempic and now having to battle the hunger, cravings and food chatter?

How are you coping? Anything that seems to help?

I kinda reached my 'comfortable weight' in July but wanted to drop a few more pounds to give me a little buffer for when I stopped. Unfortunately I couldn't get more 1mg pens so dropped to 0.5 and gained a little/lost a little. I didn't see the point of staying on 0.5 so stopped. Now I'm hungry...but managing.

Anyone else?

Hello, how are you getting on now? I want to stop but I’m so scared!! I’ve already put on a little weight so what on earth will happen when I stop 😩😩

There are a few threads about this, if you search them, there is a thread today about managing hunger

hunger is normal
all humans get hungry
being not hungry is not a normal state of being for humans and is not natural
all humans think about food

you have to learn how to manage hunger!
don’t give in to feeling hungry the moment you feel it. Some hunger pangs will not hurt you from time to time. Learn how to distract yourself a little from the rumbling tummy and eat when you know you really are getting quite hungry - not just the first time you feel ‘I’m hungry’ and instantly find food.

not get too hungry by eating the right amounts of food for you, and not bingeing and over eating until you are full
planning your meals so you aren’t going to get starving and over eat
keep moving and keep active

don’t go back to your old habits. You can’t just lose weight then suddenly go back to eating what you used to and expect not to gain weight. You can’t have a takeaway and 2 bottles of wine a week and expect not to gain it back

The food you ate in smaller portions to lose weight is the food you need to keep eating. Forever

you will feel even hungrier if you eat all carbs and sugars in a big load then restrict yourself from eating to punish yourself so don’t get into this habit either

food is fuel. Some food is nice. You can eat for pleasure but perhaps like 10-20% max or so is pure pleasure eating the rest is fuel.

eat protein

Thanks for this, really helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to reply 😌

I think my fear is that I’ll have messed up my system somehow and the weight will pile on even if I continue to eat as I have done. There’s so many articles saying that everyone will rebound and it’s a definite that weight will come back. But I want to know that won’t be the case if I carry on my exercise and logging food etc…

I suppose all I can do is try coming off it and see!

@Sooty3 i took it for 6 months then stopped and no I haven’t gained weight back I have lost more weight if that helps but the only way I have done it is to completely change my lifestyle

Diets fail because the vast majority of people don't address the reason why they are fat in the first place.

They crash diet, lose weight then return to eat as they previously did and gain it all back and then some.

If you carry on being mindful with how much you're eating you will be fine, you'll most likely see an immediate jump in weight once you switch to maintenance calories but it will just be water so don't freak out. Weigh yourself regularly and don't be alarmed unless you start seeing big jumps up from your new baseline.

Wegovy seems to have more or less stopped working for me although I'm at the highest dose so I think this pen will be my last and I have to learn to live without it. I still have about 5kg to lose and then maintain, so any helpful tips welcome! I'm thinking of upping my exercise and sticking to salads and soups.
