Which DIET PLAN??? Have 6 months to lose weight for my wedding!!!

After having to postpone our wedding in 2006 because I fell pregnant my fiancee has announced that he has planned a wedding for us this year (as a surprise until now). So.... I have 6 months to lose weight and need to lose about 2 stone.

Ive done all the plans before at some point but dont know what to go with - i think its a case of overload! Ive done slimming world ages ago but like the gillian mckeith idea now and have one of her books that sets out a plan of food for 30 days. It is totally ridiculous though and probably hugely expensive. Ive tried weight watchers but didnt take to it as once out of points for the day I got stuck (if I was doing it right). Im one of these people that cant just 'cut down' - I need something set to tell me what to do or what I can and cant have etc so I know what im doing without having to think about it too much.

I would really appreciate suggestions as to what you think might be best and even better if youre in my area and want to team up then great.

I have a good kettler excercise bike for excercise and various other bits and bobs but would really like to start running (if I could find a partner and once it gets lighter)

What shall I do....? Im thinking slimming world rather than gillian mckeith or are there any good ones ive missed

I had my ds in march last year and got married in august, so had to do some major dieting.

I started on slimming world and lost quite a bit, but it started to slow so did the cambridge diet. The weight fell off

I've lost nearly 3 stone with slimming world - if you're not very good at cutting down its fab as can eat loads of free foods and then use syns for crisps, cho, takeaways etc - well that's what I do anyway! Good luck whatever you decide - what a fab suprise to get!

LoveMyGirls · 05/03/2008 13:03

I'm doing WW but not the points plan (can't be faffed with that!) I'm doing the core plan which basically gives you a list of free foods you can have then you have 21 points per week for treats (but i haven't counted any points i just try not to have anything not off the free food list)

I've been doing it for about 5 weeks now and have lost 11 and a half pounds, I've been doing a bit more walking that normal, swimming once a week plus ice skating (only been once but was good fun) I'm going to do a free day pass at a local gym too (soon) might even do an areobics class once a week when I hit the stage where it isn't coming off so easily.

I have just lost 18 lb in two weeks on the Cambridge Diet.... not the nicest of diets in the world, but seems to be working for me so far. I actually like the fact that because I don't eat ANY normal food I don't have to think about portions or ingredients or calorie counting or any of that points palavar.

But it's not for the feinthearted....

ooh lots of success here then...

caykon - straying from the subject any wedding tips. I want to do some really cool favours but havent come up with a good idea yet. Dont want to do the lottery/scratch card thing but would prefer to do a gift

katylou - yes it was a fab surprise - it'll be in the same week as my 30th birthday (eek) and as my dd was born on my birthday she'll be 2 (my how quick it goes)

Lovemygirls - dont really know about weight watchers - will check it out and see what its about

squiffy - whats the cambridge diet??? off to google it now as its been mentioned a lot I see...

lovefamily - afraid I cant help much with ideas for favours. I didnt want any of traditional type things at my wedding. I had a simple ceremony at registry office. Then rushed home put on a pair of jeans to go to my reception, which was in a field with live band, pig roast and loads of fun stuff like bouncy castles lol. No speeches or anything just a fun day!!

lovefamily · 09/03/2008 22:51

sounds so cool - I wasnt particularly bothered about all the formalities but hubby to bes family are very middle class so I think he wanted to do the whole 'social formal' thing - but we are having a bouncy castle for the kids including ME!

I have decided to go for the slimming world thing so will crash the SW threads soon but am intrigued about this Cambridge diet - I did just google it - is it a powder drink thing?

I started rosemary conley last week and just ben to get weighed and lost 4.5 pounds. I am under 10 stone so not masses to lose, so thats a good weight loss. I have done ww in the past but I think my body has got used to that. Rosemary works on calories and fat content.

We're doing a "no starchy carbs after 5pm" diet (eg no pasta, rice, potatoes or bread). Since 15 Jan I've lost 10lb. Think it's an easy diet to plan and shop for and not expensive
