How can I get Wegovy, Ozempic or Saxenda?

My BMI is over 35 and I desperately want to start using one of these but I can't find anywhere selling them to new customers.
The guidance for NHS to prescribe Wegovy says you need high BMI and a co-morbidity.
I've not got any of those diagnosed so not sure GP would prescribe for me.
I'm happy to buy it.
Has anyone found anywhere I could get one of these to try?

Try the FB page, there will be people suggesting where you can get it from I think. Ironically I have given it up (no weight loss in 18 months and bad side effects) and have 4 pens in my fridge unused and I don't know what to do with them!

anybloodyname · 16/09/2023 09:10

There are several private suppliers that offer Consultation where you can be assessed online to see if suitable .. expect to pay 150-200 quid a month ?

If you want to go down the NHS route , I think you will be referred to a weight loss management clinic where obvious options will be tried first , they are the ones who can prescribe these meds

This was the experience in my area

SarahC50 · 16/09/2023 12:14

Lots of online suppliers like juniper,Manuel, quick meds and right tangled. Supplies are erratic of wegovy and ozempic so you'll need to shop around and be quick. Good luck x

It's difficult to get hold of. My sister needs it medically but has been told that it's too difficult to source right now. I'm worried about her.

Everyone in my diabetes help group has had to stop taking Ozempic now because it is impossible to get hold of.

Some have been prescribed alternatives (but they are also really hard to get now) and some are just going without. It is causing great distress and anxiety, but there is nothing to be done.

coffeestrongblacknosugar · 16/09/2023 15:43

I was told its not the drug itself, but the pen to administer the drug that is the issue for diabetics.

OP there are many places online that will sell. you semaglutide in a powder form, you mix it yourself with supplied sterile water and then inject yourself.

oh that's disappointing to read. I hope you are ok? Can I ask what you pens you used?

Dabralor · 16/09/2023 15:45

Oh my days do people buy powder off the internet and then inject it?! It sounds terrifying!!!

Doggymummar · 16/09/2023 15:50

If you Google it at least 10 chemists come up. Get on their waiting lists and they will email u when they have stock. I had three emails this week but I stocked up already and have enough for this year.

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 16/09/2023 17:23

I'm on wegovy.... no side effects so far

Recommend once supplies are back to normal, feels different to saxenda

norma1980 · 16/09/2023 19:36

@coffeestrongblacknosugar I didn't even know powder form was a thing?!

It's not - that's a fake.
PLEASE do not try to get Ozempic, that is for people living with diabetes and NOT for weightloss.
There are global shortages of semaglutide because people have been taking it off label (or have half of Hollwood been diagnosed with diabetes?).
I am not kidding when I say that this drug is subject to organised crime, the like of which has not been seen since the launch of Viagra.
Speak to your GP, you may have a comorbidity such as elevated BP or cholesterol; get on a reputable pharmacy waiting list. The drug does not work on its own, you need the other support provided such as diet, exercise and mental health advice.
It's not a magic solution on its own (although the results are great and the recent SELECT trial results show a positive impact on heart disease).

yes - think this is its natural form, then when liquid it is kept refrigerated. I have looked into this.

To the person who can't believe this to be happening @Dabralor the weight loss industry is huge, not entirely regulated so yes people do buy online. There are aestheticians who sell it on fb, lots of other places too.

gingangirly · 16/09/2023 19:58

@Coffeestrongblacknosugar

I am fine thanks, it did bring down my blood sugars but it seriously impacted my life, I never dared to leave the house without knowing exactly where I was going and where the toilets were. It was crippling.

The pens are novo nordisk? I am gutted that I don't want them but the pharmacy won't take them back despite them still being sealed.

coffeestrongblacknosugar · 16/09/2023 20:17

sounds like you have had awful side effects, and its a shame, but sadly due to unscrupulous people they will destroy them if handed in to the pharmacy.

BensMum12 · 21/09/2023 12:10

Try Numan.com
They are accepting people onto a waitlist for Wegovy and i've heard that they have started reaching out to people where they have stock availability to cover treatment!

Menora · 25/09/2023 07:48

I got mine online but I have now stopped. An FYI. Type 2 diabetes is most likely to happen to you if you have poor lifestyle choices and obesity. Which is exactly what people are trying to prevent happening to them by losing weight and almost all people who are obese will likely have an elevated or rising HbA1c and the longer you leave it, the more likely you will end up with diabetes, if you are overweight you are 80 times more likely to get diabetes. Waiting until you have active diabetes is a foolish plan. I did reverse my HBA1C from high to much lower and lose weight via ozempic although I don’t use it now. Berating people for trying to not be diabetic and stop being obese is not the same as people in Hollywood using it to be thinner than they already are. The market in the U.K. is strangled as all the stock is in the US but we now have wegovy, and we are much further behind other countries with the releases. Blame the online pharmacies selling to non diabetics it’s not consumers faults if it’s available to buy.

annapfa · 25/09/2023 11:23

I was on a NHS course for type 2 diabetics on Saturday, and we were told that nearly half of those with the disease are not overweight - the causes and links are not as clear cut as parts of the media tell us.

I work in healthcare myself and yes, not all T2 are obese but it’s a major risk factor. I did not pick this info up from the Daily Mail.

lifestyle and prevention plays a huge part in changing habits to avoid long term health conditions like diabetes. I for one do not want diabetes but I was heading that way.

non-diabetic hyperglycaemia patients is exactly who should also be targeted however this is optional within primary health care services and not all GP’s have the capacity to reach these patients before they get to T2. We all know with UPF issues this is causing a lot of long term health issues like diabetes

here is the link of risk factors which I did not lift from ‘the media’

Please do not send for the powder form.

C4 did a documentary on this last week or the week before.

The internet powder orders were tested by the labs at Oxford University, and were found not to be the genuine drug, and in fact contained quantities of a substance that the lab could not identify.

In addition the syringes supplied were found to be not suitable or appropriate: much longer and thicker needles.

There could be extremely serious consequences.
