Losing the same 3kg over and over

I’m not overweight. But I would like to
lose 3kg / half a stone. I have lots of clothes that are just a little too tight and would fit better if I lost a little.

I am finding I have to be really strict with myself if I want to lose anything. And as soon as I go back to eating normally, the weight I worked so hard to lose just goes back on.

Do I have to accept that this is my weight now? Or do I have to be on a diet for the rest of my life??

I’m 168cm and 63kg. 37 years old mum
of three (youngest is 4).

I have the same issue. I'm older (and fatter) than you and found after repeating the cycle far too many times that I would have binge times of year and diet times of year. It more of less evened out over the year but with the frustrating cycle of losing the same weight over and over again.

Personally I have found 5:2 helpful to manage it - it is flexible enough that if I have a sociable week I can move days round rather than just throwing up my hands and giving up. I can't stick to low calorie or no carbs every day, but that is me and there may be a different way of eating which works better for you.

I found i have to diet forever. As in I had to change my eating habits permanently to keep stablish. Even then i fluctuate by a kilo.

I feel the same. 170cm/67kg and just want to get back to my pre-baby weight of 64kg. But it's so hard and takes so much effort. Thinking of you!

Losing and regaining weight over and over reduces your metabolism and can even shrink the size of your heart and liver. This is why the problem gets worse and worse for people.

You really need to change what you eat, less carbs more fat & protein, and if you exercise use weights to reduce muscle loss when you lose weight.

Remember it’s not weight that matters, it’s body composition. No point weighing 60kg if it’s mostly fat.

I am 172cm and 61kg. I'd like to lose 1-2kg but it comes off and goes back on constantly. I'm mid 40s.
I suspect this is now "my weight" and what I used to do to lose weight now merely maintains. Probably due to my age

How depressing to hear it’s not just me! I don’t want to accept this as my new weight because then it will start creeping up.

It sounds like I need to overhaul my diet and lifestyle. But I love carbs so much 😭

I‘ve always found 16:8 or 17:7 easy to achieve. Now I just need to stick to it!

Same! I have to diet so strictly, and consistently, to lose even half a pound a week, my tdee puts me so much higher than what I can actually eat. I eat a really clean diet too, and exercise regularly (run 3-4 days, hiit classes 2 days, busy active lifestyle) but I have to stick to 1200 cals of misery to see any change on the scales.

Which of course means that one day off plan, I put 3-4 lbs back on and have to do the whole lot all over again. I’m 5’7 and weigh 11.2, but I can Bob up to 11.7 easily. I’m just turned 40, perimenopausal (just started HRT) and have subclinical hyperthyroidism so I’m pretty much doomed.
