@grapesandplums I used the rough and ready calculations on https://tdeecalculator.net/ . I find resting heart rate is tricky as mine drops when I've not eaten much, especially carbs and particularly if I eat late at night.

TDEE Calculator: Learn Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure

Use the TDEE calculator to learn your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, a measure of how many calories you burn per day. This calculator displays MUCH more!

@Heronatemygoldfish thanks. Yes same here. The hypothyroid paradox is that if you don't eat enough and over exercise you can actually get fatter so it's a tricky balance. And even if you're not, if you go into starvation mode it's the same outcome!

@grapesandplums my mum was hypothyroid so I know it's not an easy ride!

The easiest way to lose weight is to focus on health, rather than weight loss. Once I realised this the weight started falling off!

Cut out sugar, and ultra processed food.

Focus on whole grains, oats, fruit and veg, beans and pulses, tofu.

Once you get over the sugar addiction (which took me a couple of weeks of feeling really crap) it's plain sailing. I don't eat any of the chocolate of snacks that are in the house for the rest of the family, and I don't even want to.

I eat when I'm hungry now, and that's a complete revelation as ive never before had a good relationship with food. I use it as it's intended now, to fuel my body. I don't count calories, or control portions, just eat when I'm hungry, don't when I'm not, and without sugar cravings it's easy.

I also drink loads of coffee, as I have a toddler who doesn't sleep 😅

The weight started falling off after 4 weeks (or that's when I noticed) I'm 4 months in and over a stone lighter with little effort, and losing more every week.

Plus sides are, I'm not ruled by food. Skin, hair and nails amazing. More patient. More level moods. Sleep is better! I also take a multivitamin when I remember.

I know everyone is looking for that magic, instant fix but it's not realistic or sustainable.

Try getting healthy, and you'll be so thankful you did. The weight loss has been an inevitable bonus, not the main pushing force for me and it's taken so much pressure off

That's an extreme, nigh on impossible target loss in that time frame.

Wish you the very best of luck but I'd consider going for a much more realistic target.

Take small steps and build on your success.
