Safe, natural appetite suppressant?

Does this exist?

Something without major side effects that simply makes you less hungry?

Google is a minefield so thought I'd ask on here.

lettuce, cucumber, water, boiled eggs, bell peppers, peas, green beans, broccoli,

all these things are filling

In France there is the Oenebiol minceur range of ´natural’ pills. Although wonder if there is a good reason they don’t seem to be available in the UK.

Water, most hunger is thirst.

This, which is why it's really helpful to eat snacks that are high in water content to fill you up. Grapes are a good example. Grapes and raisins are the same fruit, however, think about how many raisins you'd need to eat to full you up compared with how many grapes.

Virtual Gastric Band Hypnotherapy App.

Didn't even realise I was dieting, it was all sub conscious.

Can you recommend any parts program?

ClaraBourne · 19/08/2023 15:20

@BiteyLittleFuckers its actually an app called 'Virtual Gastric Band Hypnosis'

Hours and hours of manual labour.
Or anything that keeps you busy & unable to eat, bonus if it's paid work & improves your health in other ways, or has other benefits.

High protein low carb. Nuts as a snack when watching TV.

Nuts aren't high protein they are high fat and calorie dense.

According to google both beef and peanuts have 26g of protein per 100g….

bellac11 · 20/08/2023 08:10

Nuts in general are considered a poor source of protein in terms of the calorie/fat/protein ratio

Yes they have high protein but are far far higher in fat and calories than, say beef

But they are useful and have other nutrients in them so as a balanced diet nuts should certainly be included unless allergies say different

I have almonds nearly every day, plus a bit of peanut butter in porridge, but meat is where I get the majority of my protein (tuna and chicken mostly), plus milk and a bit of cheese

I always used to laugh at the suggestion of drinking water, but I don't think I was drinking enough for it to work! When I get peckish I down a whole pint of water in one go, and it makes me feel a bit sick! I also down a pint after every meal and snack, so I'm not left feeling like I want more food. I pad out all my lunches and dinners with a huge helping of salad, which also works well.

LimeCheesecake · 20/08/2023 08:17

OP - while you get used to ignoring the evening snack craving - clean your teeth early, say before 9. It really helps me mentally end my days eating. Also the minty taste seems to put me off anything savoury snack wise.

so before you get the evening munchies, go clean your teeth, you are done with eating for the day. You can drink water now.

Sipping from a refillable water bottle.

But a 100g of nuts can be eaten in seconds and contains just shy of 500 calories.

Grapes are a terrible example, they are well known for causing blood glucose spikes.

Basically a little packet of sugar with no fibre to slow them down.

A carrot vs a raisin would be a better example.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/08/2023 09:05

Garcinia Cambogia is really good. Amazon sell it. Mysimba is also meant to be good but can cause bad insomnia.

dreamydandelion · 20/08/2023 09:06

green tea is a great natural appetite supressant and raises the metabolism and boosts weight loss. Just don't buy chinese (japanese only!) as it contains more lead than you should take.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/08/2023 09:08

Green tea gives me horrible anxiety.

dreamydandelion · 20/08/2023 09:10

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow that's strange, not heard of that. It actually contains L-theanine which is supposed to promote a calm and yet alert state of mind, which is why buddhist monks use matcha (the best form of green tea) to stay alert while meditating. and it contains 10 x the antioxidants of green tea.

OP if you've not tried it I highly recommend giving green tea a go. It's not my personal experience that it causes anxiety.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/08/2023 09:13

Isn’t it a stimulant?

StefanosHill · 20/08/2023 09:13

Eggs are good

And generally low carb

dreamydandelion · 20/08/2023 09:15

it does contain a small amount of caffeine but also L-theanine (which promotes calmness while alert) as I mentioned above. Nothing like the amount of caffiene in coffee though so overall way less "awake" making.

then again the OP asked for effective appetite suppressants which it is, hence suggesting. From what I can tell she didn't specifically ask that anything containing caffeine was excluded although not read the full thread.

have a read here if you're interested.
