Hi, I just started Saxenda on 8/8/2023. Trying to find some buddies to share experiences.

Check out the saxenda sisterhood thread, that’s got lots of us currently on saxenda and is very welcoming

Hi! I've been on saxenda since early June. I have lost 20 lbs. I am currently on .6 plus 8 clicks which is just below 1.2. The Saxenda does give me gastric side effects esp if I eat the wrong foods but I power through because it is working. I'm still on the low dose after 2 months and still losing. I cannot drink alcohol on Saxenda or I vomit several hours afterward. For me the drug has been worth it. I am moving around easier and overall feel more comfortable in my skin with the weight loss. I'm sticking to .6 plus 8 clicks for now. I even slowly increased the clicks. When I went straight from .6 to 1.2, I was very ill. Then I did some reading and realized I could dose in between. So I went up 2 clicks every week and I feel good right here where I am.

BTW avoid alcohol, excess caffeine and overly acidic foods. Drink a lot of water and eat fiber like Metamucil cookies. I let myself get constipated at the beginning and that was no fun. Saltines are great for any nausea and have become my almost daily breakfast staple. I also inject at around 7 p.m. now. It seems to be the best time I have found for myself. Too early and I am sick during the day.

What does .6 and 8 clicks mean? I am on .6 but don't understand the clicks after it.

Thanks for telling me about the sisterhood thread.

I hope I am doing this right. I just click once to .6 and inject. Not sure about clicks in between.

I've been on it 2 months and lost 1.5 stone. I have 3 pens left and don't think I'll get anymore as I'm not convinced it works for me. I luckily suffer no side effects, so I don't feel like it suppress my appetite.

The summer holidays have had an impact, so will probably take a break between pens and restart my last 3 pens when the kids go back.

The clicks aren’t overly reliable but if you wanted to stay on a low dose or move up the doses slower than the standard doses then there are 10 clicks between the 0.6 and 1.2 as your turn the dial and then again between 1.2 and 1.8 etc so can gradually move up. Eg I worked up to 1.8 over the standard first 3 weeks, but then stayed on 1.8 for 8 weeks, felt I needed to increase it but didn’t want to go up to 2.4 yet so am doing 1.8 plus 5 clicks which is then approx a 2.1 dose.

I’ve not had bad side effects, some nausea in the first few weeks but not bad, main thing was being very tired but that passed, everyone is different.

I’ve been on it for 13 weeks, and have lost 2 stone 5lbs, and now halfway ish to my target - so overall happy and has worked well but getting it is more and more difficult with the stock issues etc, back in May it was readily available from everywhere but not now!

KatGirl007 · 11/08/2023 12:26

Those are good loses for both of you. Hope to see close that. 3 days in I don't really feel anything so far. I guess in the 2nd week I will.

Oh I didn't even pay attention to the clicks. I just went to the numbers. I set it to 1.2 and I guess it is working. It is very subtle. I feel I not worried about breakfast this morning and only ate on a small plate last night. I am down 2 lbs. of water weight at the moment. I will ride my indoor bike for 5 miles to get some exercise since it is Saturday and I am home chilling.

Hi just thinking it's important to state what theater side effects are as saxenda is classed as high risk for causing cancer. This is the reason I won't try it.

Saxenda is a drug that helps people lose weight. However, the side effects that many people experience when they take Saxenda can be severe and even life-threatening. One of the most devastating side effects of Saxenda has been pancreatic cancer.

Sotiredmjmmy · 15/08/2023 21:45

@Jesswebster01 You are right there is a long list of potential side effects to saxenda and it is important that people are aware of them when deciding what to do. But like a lot of drugs some people are effected whilst others are not and the common side effects are not serious or very different to many other drugs.

The drug has also been in use for 13 years, it is not that new.

I for one have had no side effects (other than weight loss), but have not taken it lightly and read up a lot before I started it. Obesity itself is a big factor for cancer and other conditions and health issues too, so it can be a difficult balance of risk on which is the lesser evil. Everyone will be in their own personal situation too, for some it will be a health decision for others less so and then the potential side effects are more relevant.

In my case, 3 months in and I am 2.5 stone down and still going. If I hadn’t started saxenda when I did I was on a path where I would have very likely gained at least another stone if not more in those same 3 months as I wasn’t in the right head space to tackle it in a different way. I would now be in a more risky situation obesity wise than I already was, saxenda has enabled me to break that substantially and work on forming new healthy patterns.

It won’t be for everyone though.
