Guess my holiday weight gain! (Lighthearted)

Currently hanging around the airport waiting for my flight home. I'd lost a stone in a run up to this holiday aiming for 9st by the time I went. On the morning of departure I was 8st 13.8lb.

I'm taking all guesses, from the sublime to the ridiculous as to what I'll be when I step back on the scales tomorrow morning. Parameters of the holiday are below!

Ok. Holiday was for 10 nights. Half board. Buffet for breakfast and dinner. I ate loads at breakfast so that I didn't have to eat lunch. I ate lunch all days bar 2 (oops!).

Pre-dinner cocktail every night (usually a pina colada) with bar nuts to snack on. Buffet dinner - lots of choice and I didn't stint. Wine with dinner too.

Food below:

Breakfast: lots of fruit but also pastries, croissants, eggs, sausage etc. usually 2-3 plates/bowls

Lunch: Cheese galore, crisps, bread but also meat and potatoes, calamari, fish, Greek salad etc.

Dinner: Everything from Mexican, Italian to roast meet and more cheese. Lots of puddings. Some fruit. Again - 2-3 plates/bowls daily

Snacks: Daily ice cream. Bay snacks. Crisps.

Alcohol: daily cocktail and wine.

I'm reckoning at least half a stone. Any guesses?

@QueenMabby , awh, I nearly won ! 8lb I said. 7lb is not too bad really.
Have fun with the laundry !

You probably gained 1 maybe 2 pounds of fat the rest is water and glycogen and will go by itself within a week or so of your normal diet anyway.

Well done for enjoying yourself. Sounds like a lovely holiday.

You'll be back where you were in a week or so. I can do serious damage on hols. What's the point if we can't enjoy it.

Ooof. Just been on the scales. 1/2 stone. Exactly 7lb. Weighed in at 9st 6:8lb. Now to start back again on getting rid of it!

I don't drink normally (no clue why I do on holiday) so that'll be a chunk of calories gone straight away. I'll focus on whole foods, minimal upf and lots of veg. More NEET too. To be fair I should get all my steps in today just doing all the holiday laundry!

Now off to find my baggiest jeans.....

What do I win?

decaffonlypls · 27/07/2023 08:44

4lb

Back21970 · 27/07/2023 08:45

I would have guessed about 7lbs.

i usually do the same for holidays, lose about a stone and put half back on.

Sadly, I often don’t get my motivation back and slowly put the rest on over the next few months, so get straight back on it!

Problem for me is that after a couple of weeks eating and drinking like that it’s hard to get back into a normal routine.

Good luck and stay focused.

Let us know how you get on 😀

Back to my usual breakfast of porridge (made with milk), pumpkins seeds and blueberries. Am still hungry! It'll be a tough few days I think until my body gets reacquainted with how I normally eat.

Yay! That's better than what I normally win at school tombolas - a dented tin of pears past their use by date

To gain 1lb of fat, you need to consume 3,500 over your maintenance calories. Your gain is most likely salt and water and actual food, and you'll find it's gone pretty soon! Hope you've had a lovely time

Thanks. I'm 2lb down already so fingers crossed the rest disappears as quickly! I think if's likely that I ate at least 1000 calories a day more than I usually do though.

I was going to guess nine and a half stone.

I put 6lbs on in ten days in Italy last year but lost the first four in a week just eating normally and drinking plenty of water.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 28/07/2023 15:27

7lbs is absolutely fine especially as you enjoyed your holiday
I bet it doesn't even notice, just you feel uncomfortable
I'd consider that calories well spent!
