Fast 800 - anyone fancy an accountability chat?

Hello,

I’m day 2 on fast 800 and posting on here for accountability. I’m doing this mainly as a bit of a panic, last resort to try and drop a little bit of weight before we go away later in August. I’ve tried calorie counting etc but I think the strict nature of the Fast 800 is what I need as there’s no wiggle room for me which can often lead to a binge and falling off the diet wagon!

Anyone else fairly early on in their fast 800 journey and want to join in on here?

Day 1 for me was tough but I survived. Was starving most of the day but just tried to drink loads and loads of water.

Went for the chicken shish with lots of extra salad. Had a nibble on some of my partner’s lamb too much not too much. Hoping the gain won’t be too bad tomorrow but understand if it is, it’s just a fluctuation and nothing to stress about.

How are you finding your fibre? I’m noticing I’m eating way less as I typically got mine from fruit.

Haven't tracked fibre as I find it enough 'work' already to count calories, protein & carbs. I don't use MyFitnessPal or other apps. I have been through the Fast800 books I have and made a list of the recipes I like or would use and their cals, protein and carb counts, plus a list of protein top ups. This helps me meal plan more easily and pick a meal that's going to give me enough calories and protein.

How are you this morning?

We have friends for supper tonight so I will have a snack or light lunch as having a bigger meal and a glass of wine tonight.

Canterbury58 · 29/07/2023 13:15

3/4 lb gain this morning but I expected it. Done lots of walking today but did end up having a brunch while out so tried to make sensible choice (overnight oats with oat milk, blueberries, raspberries and a drizzle of honey). To be honest my toddler ate most of it 😂

A glass of wine sounds amazing!

I’m certain my clothes feel a bit looser which I’m so pleased about as my holiday date looms nearer.

It's so motivating when you feel a difference isn't it.

I had a late night coffee too and then had a lousy night's sleep so back on track today and hopefully get a good sleep tonight.

Canterbury58 · 30/07/2023 19:50

Yes the results really do make a big difference, especially if the scales aren’t showing what you’d hoped.

Not a bad day today although I ate out again. Tried to go for the best option which was baked eggs and couldn’t resist some streaky bacon. Then tonight I had beef redang from the cook book which was delicious! Finished with a pear and a handful of raspberries for a taste of something sweet and a fibre boost.

How’s your day gone?

Morning. Hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread. I've been losing weight since Jan & am 1st 5lb down. Got hols next fri so want to try to shift another 4lb if poss so going to try the fast 800 to give myself a boost
Quick question..I notice that someone has said they will reduce fruit intake. Do people find that helps a lot? Presume it's to do with the sugars? I'm thinking protein, veg, water might be the best way to keep full.

bellac11 · 31/07/2023 08:37

I find the best sources of protein are animal or fish meats. Eggs and pulses etc are helpful but theres nothing to beat chicken, prawns and tuna for big hits in one meal

Hello. Welcome! Nice to have another person join our little conversation.

I’m probably the worst person to give advice on fruit as I find it really hard to cut down. I think the idea is that you aim for fruit with the lowest sugars such as berries, apples and pears. However, I found that I can’t eat them as much as I’d like on this plan as it makes my carb intake way too high. The downside is that I’m having way less fibre.

I’ve started fast 800 for similar reasons to you. I’m off on holiday in just less than 2 weeks and needed to try and feel a bit more confident. Started this diet last Monday and already 7.5lbs down which I’m so pleased with.

I did this for a week or so before my holiday and I found that if each meal contained a good deal of fat, I didn't feel hungry. I'd have my lunch for breakfast and have something like an avocado or a spoonful of cream or cheese or something and build around it like that. I cut carbs way down so I was able to make room for the fat in my calorie allowance. It started working right away. The only way to stick to it is to incorporate fat into those 800 calories. Protein too, of course, but the bit of fat really made the difference. I don't remember feeling hungry much.

Fast800keto · 31/07/2023 09:03

I finally got a good sleep and have lost another lb which isn't bad considering had guests this weekend.

This morning I have a blood pressure check and bloods at GP. I actually had a text last week saying I'd been identified as a patient who could be referred for weight loss help (SW main option), so I'd so love to achieve it myself on this plan instead. Will be useful to have some baseline bloods at the start of the diet and then see how things improve.

Then later on today I'll make a list of what's in the freezer and then make a meal plan.

@Canterbury58 your randang sounds delish - I'll have to find that recipe.

@bellac11 I've found the same with protein sources. And a tin of mackerel in tomato sauce or some tinned tuna is my go-to easy protein top up. I tend to have a frittata most days for lunch and add tinned tuna or salmon and veggies. I want to make a list of the protein top ups and how much protein/100g and then £/100g to see which protein sources are most value. I love chicken but only buy organic and since the bird flu outbreak it's so expensive I haven't been buying it unless I find it in the reduced section. A local farm is having a pre-xmas sale this week though so hoping to stock up my freezer with whole chickens and turkey legs.

@hby9628 have you got any of the Michel Mosley books to guide you? Fruit does tend to be high carb because of the sugar content so berries are a good choice as they tend to be lowest. I bought some fresh apricots that I couldn't resist so need to check calories and carbs and might limit myself to half an apricot as a treat so not to go over my limits. Will definitely help boost fibre.

hby9628 · 31/07/2023 09:27

@Canterbury58 7.5lb down in a week is amazing! Hoping this will give me the boost I need. Lots of water will help I'm sure x

Canterbury58 · 31/07/2023 18:28

Had a really weird experience today. So in order to motivate myself I set myself little targets: 1/2 stone, 10lbs, 1 stone etc. Today I achieved a target so I was planning to have a slightly more relaxed day of eating. Sat and watched my parents eating cake at lunch, didn’t have any. Opted for a salad with lentils, homemade coleslaw, cous cous and lettuce. Now tonight I’ve got a veggie chilli ready to have. I feel like I’d love a treat for celebrate my first target but for some reason feel a bit overwhelmed at the thought of it! So odd!

OP posts:
Fast800keto · 31/07/2023 21:21

Congratulations on reaching your target. Can you reward yourself with a bunch of flowers or a new lipstick?

Fast800keto · 01/08/2023 11:14

2lb down this morning and celebrating my annual blood test results. Last year I was just 1 unit below the level for pre diabetes and results from yesterday are back to show a small drop. I'd been fearing I'd have tipped over the edge. Now I can see what difference Fast800 makes

Canterbury58 · 01/08/2023 17:21

Oh wow that’s amazing!

I ended up having magnum after my dinner as a treat. 1/4lb gain this morning but to be expected as I’ve noticed I’m not going to the toilet as much as I used to as I just can’t get my fibre in.

Holiday in 10 days so I’m hoping I can get another 4/5lbs down but i’m not too hopeful as I’m staying at my in laws for 5 of those days!

OP posts:
Fast800keto · 01/08/2023 20:58

I find it much harder when away from home too. I have a few meals out in the next couple of weeks but hope I'll be able to choose low carb options.

Fast800keto · 03/08/2023 09:25

@Canterbury58 how are you getting on?

I had a small gain yesterday which I put down to lack of water (again). Today I'm 4.5lb down from where I started last week. I'm hoping if I can increase my water consistently I could lose 3-4lb this week.

Canterbury58 · 03/08/2023 19:30

I’m currently 9.2lbs down which I’m really pleased about. Eating just twice a day is so much easier as way less to think about.

How is your hunger? I find I’m way less hungry than before I started this diet.

OP posts:
Fast800keto · 05/08/2023 20:12

I hardly ever feel hungry but I think years of over eating has disrupted my hunger signals and if I stick to the plan i also don't get hungry. I'm hoping after weight loss my real hunger signals will start to return.

I checked my books (Fast800 Easy & Fast800 Keto) & realised I didn't have the randang recipe you mentioned so just picked up the original Fast800 diet & recipe books from library today. Looking forward to adding some extra meal options.

Fast800keto · 05/08/2023 20:12

9.2lb down is fantastic! Spurring me on for good loss this week.

hby9628 · 07/08/2023 14:55

3.4lb down in a week. Would love another 1lb in the next couple of days. I'm finding it surprisingly easy especially if I make sure I drink loads of water.
Had a bit of a bump in the road on Thurs as we ended up at a family members and we had a takeaway. I did a healthy choice but the order got messed up so I had to share other peoples. I felt so rough the next day. Think because of the salt & bread. Never had that before after food so was a bit of an eye opener.
I'm on hols then soon for 2 weeks but I'll definitely come back to fast800 upon my return.

Canterbury58 · 07/08/2023 18:23

I had my first ‘off’ day yesterday, enjoyed a roast dinner with all the trimmings and also a glass of wine! 🙈 Feeling a bit guilty today but trying not to overthink it.

Not really able to weigh or measure at the moment as I’m staying at my in laws so I’m just trying to make healthy choices and get as many steps in as possible. Really hoping I haven’t gained!!

Well done on achieving your goals so far.

Thanks for sharing the AMA. I'm interested in the shakes so will take a look

Are there any favourite recipes you can share?

I have a vegetable chopper gadget and am preparing lots of vegetables. I have tubs of cabbage, lettuce, red onions, spring onions, peppers, celery, broccoli, tomatoes, carrots etc. I make a mix and max salad for lunch eat day with protein, usually ham, chicken or tuna. I boil eggs for a snack, they are very expensive.

I am ok with eating later, I really miss a milky coffee first thing. I am more likely to snack and make bad choices at night.

Fast800keto · 16/08/2023 12:35

@Canterbury58 how are you getting on? I've struggled the past week but back on it today
