How does this meal plan sound?

I posted a few days ago about how I'm struggling to lose 4 pounds. I am a healthy weight but would like to lose this 4 pounds. Verdict was too many carbs and sugary yoghurts.

Does this meal plan sound any better?

Monday - B porridge with berries and nuts, L salmon cucumber roll, D homemade jalfrezi curry

Tuesday - B berries Greek yoghurt, L boiled egg salad, D jacket potato beans and salad/veg

Wednesday - B porridge with berries and nuts, L chicken salad roll, D chilli

Thursday - B spinach omelette, L feta cheese and humous Greek salad, D fish with veg and a couple of baby potatoes

Friday - B berries Greek yoghurt, L spinach omelette salad, D bacon pasta made with cherry tomatoes mushrooms veg

Try not to snack but if hungry would be celery with humous, a boiled egg, a few nuts, an orange

Just depends how your body reacts to eating this way. By that, I mean if you can follow the plan without feeling restricted or hungry.

Also, if it does offer any weight loss. Some people's bodies are different. Some can eat lots of carbs and lose weight, whereas others need to cut carbs to shrink. It's all a matter of trial and error to be honest!!

Ifwallscouldtalk · 16/07/2023 21:13

True, I'll see how it goes.

Can't go completely carb free it's just not going to be doable but thought it might help by cutting it back or out for some meals.

Probably the best thing to do, is when you have the potatoes with your fish/meat, is put what you'd normally have on your plate. Then weigh them too work out the carb content. Then maybe reduce it by say a quarter. So if you have say 8 potatoes have 6. Rather than cutting them completely.

The same principles can be applied to a lot of your meals. Just so you can see what your portions should look like.

You may find that you are overeating or even underestimating calories!

WTFAreYouForReal · 16/07/2023 21:20

I'd gain weight eating like that.

I'd gain weight eating like that.

Seriously?

What do you eat?

OP posts:
WTFAreYouForReal · 16/07/2023 21:41

At the moment I'm having:

Greek yoghurt, 10 almonds, 3 walnuts, a small bit of fruit.

A small snack of nuts or pumpkin seeds.

A dinner typical dinner would be chicken or pork in some kind of sauce (no flour) and salad or veg.

Ifwallscouldtalk · 16/07/2023 21:41

I definitely shouldn't gain weight because I'm cutting out a hell of a lot of bread, pasta, flavoured yoghurts. I wasn't gaining weight before.

But I'll be interested to see if I drop a couple of pounds.

Ifwallscouldtalk · 16/07/2023 21:43

@WTFAreYouForReal do you not have any lunch?

What's your height and weight? I don't mean to be rude that just seems to be a very small amount of food I'm surprised.

Seriously?

What do you eat?

A lot of people on MN live on a boiled egg a week and thin air. Fact.

Take no notice OP, Tis competitive undereating and either fiction or they’ve royalty fucked their metabolisms.

The plan you describe sounds fine but obviously it will depend on portion size. If you put your details into a calorie calculator it will tell you what you need to eat to maintain your weight and what you’d need to eat to loose it, so you could do that and then just estimate a percentage to reduce your portion size by, if you don’t want to get into calorie counting.

4 lbs will most likely take a while if you want to keep it off. It won’t come off at the speed of someone who has a couple of stone to loose overall.

Well that sounds miserable

WTFAreYouForReal · 16/07/2023 21:58

It is miserable. But I'm post meno and can't eat sod all anymore.

To pp, I'm 5'1 and 14st 4lb. So obese. But being post meno, it takes a lot to lose nowadays.

I eat between 12 and 8 so am actually dropping breakfast, not lunch, and it's very hot here where I am so I don't feel like eating much.

bakewellbride · 16/07/2023 22:20

I've recently gone from 9.5 stone to 8.5 stone. I knocked snacking on the head completely. You don't really need snacks if you really think about it.

How much water do u drink? And do you exercise? Do u drink alcohol? All things to consider.

So do you just eat 3 meals a day? Or what's your diet like now?

Did you "need" to lose a stone?

bakewellbride · 16/07/2023 23:28

3 healthy meals a day. Well no I didn't "need" to as you put it but I wanted to.

Cormoran · 17/07/2023 07:08

If I needed to lose a small amount of weight, I would definitely cut nuts, potatoes and bacon , and opt for green beans and chicken breast, or cauliflower and cod, cucumber , tomatoes and tuna salad, and things like that.
No snacking and if I had to, it would be a pear, and not an egg, or hummus.

Don't have rolls for lunch, opt for a real meal or a soup.

Carbs have nothing wrong with them, but when going low calories, you should eat huge amounts of vegetables, some chicken, turkey, fish, shellfish, ... For breakfast opt for rolled oats instead of porridge, and maybe add a teaspoon of flaxseeds. You won't feel any hunger.

It is down to calories ingested.

timmothysmith01 · 19/07/2023 15:10

A healthy meal plan for weight reduction reduces calories while still giving you all the nutrients you require.

L1R876 · 19/07/2023 18:18

@timmothysmith01 which is why most go for vegetables, salad etc. low calorie but good for health. But then you should eat them daily anyway!

L1R876 · 19/07/2023 18:27

well done. Just shows that you don't need snacks! Did you calorie count the meals? Or what did you do?

TwilightSkies · 19/07/2023 18:30

MN is FULL of people with orthorexia, and they all egg each other on. It’s terrible.
