What was the moment something clicked or struck a chord that made you lose weight.
It may have been something that happened or something someone said or just how you felt at that time.

New Year’s Eve. Sat on the sofa with my belly rolls feeling uncomfortable yet still stuffing my face with crisps and dips whilst drinking fizz. I disgusted myself.
I hated what I was becoming & didn’t want to continue getting fatter & fatter, like DM, and ending up on statins and blood pressure medication. She endlessly moans she’s fat but does nothing about it. I decided enough was enough and got on the scales the next day, logged into My Fitness Pal and stuck to 1,500 calories a day.
After reaching target I now stick to 1,750, and have maintained my weight for 4 years so far.

i knew I was eating badly but kidded myself I was getting away with it. Trousers were uncomfortable, I saw an unfortunate photo of my spare tyre, and I got on the scales and discovered I was technically overweight when I identify strongly as someone healthy weight. Something in my brain went snap and I’ve become one of those irritating people who never snacks and eats proper healthy food, mostly plants, and modest portion sizes.

Husband took a photo with me and my kids on holiday. It really upset me.

And I had enough the day I got back.

18lbs down in 6 weeks and I feel like I'm getting somewhere. And the motivation is there and I have had 0 temptation to go back to eating shit

I have about another 1.5-2 stone to lose

Stopped eating processed foods and diet drinks.
Ate more veg and protein in every meal. Walked an extra 2000 steps a day. Lost 1 stone and kept it off all year. Feel.soooooo much better.

Turned 40, saw myself on photos with a really fat ass, skin was bad, felt really unfit, decided to do something about it.
Lost a stone by cutting carbs and did couch to 5k.

I still run, and have only put 3lb ish back on in 7 years - it fluctuates a bit but I've never got back to where I was again, and I've changed my eating habits for good - bread and pasta are now an occasional treat and my portion sizes are a fraction of what they were (I still struggle to resist cake and chocolate and drink too much wine, but can't be perfect!)

Getting to my heaviest weight and realising I would qualify for bariatric surgery on the NHS. I felt unwell all the time, tired, my knees hurt, I couldn't walk up the stairs without being out of breathe.

I remember having this realisation a few days after Christmas and viewing I would start on 1st January as we were having a takeaway to celebrate the New Year, but I didn't enjoy eating that takeaway as I knew this was the food that was making me I'll. Lost 8 and a half stone in the next 3 years but it was a battle and when my weight loss stalled half way through I resorted to some unhealthy habits to keep losing. Ended up gaining half of it back and now I'm on the path to losing it again but this time in a healthy way by educating myself about food and not starving myself.

I had a blood test 3wks ago that showed I had high blood sugar (wasn’t a big surprise based on all the shit I was eating!). It really does feel like a switch has been flicked and I’ve had almost no chocolate / cake / biscuits since that phone call. I’ve got a follow up blood test next week which, I hope, will show an improvement but will probably still be too high. I WILL keep going though as I WILL NOT start diabetes medication. This MUST be my moment to finally sort myself out.
