over the last ten years, I have been putting on a vast amount of weight combination of grief depression moving to a new area, and just being a pig. I was never tiny usually about a 14 and would be happy to go back to that dress size but had gone up to a size 24.
I have tried various things slimming clubs etc but did not work for me so this time I am doing a general diet plan with a calorie deficiency mainly based on high protein low carbs etc.
I do not eat meat fish eggs etc so my diet was, to be honest mainly cheese bread chocolate cakes pies so no wonder I was large
Now I have fruit yogurt and a tiny amount of muesli or healthy cereal small amount with fruit or porridge for breakfast
lunch is fruit and a small sandwich of Quorn meat with salad or Ryvita with low-fat cheese spread
The evening meal is Quorn sausages sweet potato baked with veg and a small amount of grated cheese or similar
anyway felt much better then last few days have had terrible heartburn I woke up in the night and felt like I was having a heart attack the pain was so bad. when I eat it hurts so much. spoke to GP she has put up Omprezole I told her sometimes my bowels are a bit windy and a bit of stomach ache.
I am trying with my weight so hard and have already lost half a stone but is it worth it? will this awful pain ease? I am sitting here now and the pain is terrible even though i took the pills earlier so am dreading having breakfast. I feel exhausted and awful about it all
can anyone advice please if it gets better before I give up

Do you think your stomach problems are because you've changed to a healthy diet? Sounds unlikely

Worldgonecrazy · 12/07/2023 07:12

why Quorn?? I would look for more natural alternatives. Sourdough granary bread bay ease your symptoms.

Your stomach is used to easily digestible carbs. Give it a couple of weeks because the answer will always be ‘yes a healthy diet is worth it”

Quorn is probably the issue here. It makes a lot of people pretty ill.
What about a hummus and roasted veg sandwich instead?

There are a million healthy meat free meals you could have without quorn

Did you used to eat Quorn before you started on the Omprezole?

It might be easier to cut that out for a few days and experiment with things like chickpeas and tofu, Greek yoghurt for protein to see if it gets easier.

But personally I would want to succeed and I would get expert advice from someone who is used to working with clients on the drug.

They should be able to put together a meal plan to take into account dietary requirements.

It might be that you need to rethink the drug but I would get expert advice first.

Thank you have always eaten quorn but it can be difficult to digest so maybe i should try alternatives
