Anyone successfully switched from keto to calorie deficit?

Hi all! Have had some great success with keto over the last 6 months and I've lost around 15kg. I've been strict enough (no potatoes, pasta or rice and only very occasional bread) but have also had 1 or 2 higher carb days every week (still no potatoes pasta or rice though). I feel like I've plateaued with it now though and have hovered around the same weight for the last month or so. I also find that it has become unsustainable as a long term diet, and I've formed a few unhealthy habits.

Basically, I just want to eat a bit more freely and be allowed to have the choice of things like fruit again! Has anyone successfully switched to calories deficit after a long spell of keto?

Isn't that what atkins is, gradually upping you carbs as you loose weight?

  • Phase 1 (Induction): This phase allows for 20–25 grams (g) of net carbs per day until you are 15 pounds (lb), or 7 kilograms (kg), from your goal weight.
  • Phase 2: During this phase, you consume 25–50 g of net carbs per day until you are 10 lb (5 kg) from your goal weight.
  • Phase 3: Your net carb allowance is raised to 50–80 g per day until you have met your goal weight and maintained it for 1 month.
  • Phase 4: During the final phase, you consume 80–100 g of net carbs per day for ongoing weight maintenance.
I would take it slowly as on a low carb diet I find you loose your abilty to handle carbs resulting in higher glucose spikes than you would otherwise get.

That's interesting about the glucose spikes, thanks. I definitely think taking it slowly with the carb increases is a good plan 👍
