Ozempic price increase on Juniper

I’m devastated. Just got the email through telling me they’re increasing the price and I just can’t afford any more so I’m going to have to stop. £225 a month!! It’s the only thing that’s worked for me and I’ve lost well over a stone so far since I started in April. The global shortages are clearly having a huge negative impact on availability.

I've just come on to see
If anyone has started a thread about this...I'm the same OP!

I was already struggling to justify the £199 a month but now I just can't!

My question (and hopefully someone has already done this so can answer!) is: if I go to a cheaper provider (and there are cheaper providers) will I be able to go straight onto 1mg dose as that's what I'm on with Juniper. There would be no point starting again on a lower dose 🤷‍♀️

I’d be interested to know too but I gather it’s the supply with other places that is the issue.

it’s so frustrating! The profit they must be making on this must be phenomenal. It’s definitely exploitation, but how do they overcome the demand??

Can you see an endocrinologist privately. Mine gives me a private prescription and my local chemist charges £122 per pen. The saving in the long run more than covers the cost of the doctor's appointment.

Doesn't surprise me. Obesity is not viewed as other chronic diseases, and weight management is huge business. If you're overweight it's your fault, and you deserve to be (over) charged for any treatments that may work. And yet heart disease, hypertension, (most) type 2 diabetes will be treated with reasonable priced medication and scripts. Obesity IS a chronic disease. If it was genuinely as simple as eat less and move more, then more people would be able to deal with weight gain than do.....

HermioneWeasley · 31/05/2023 10:16

Yup, just seen the email. Oof. I tried moving from Juniper a few months ago but couldn’t get hold of it elsewhere.

ohlahlah · 31/05/2023 10:16

I've come on here for the same reason. I really can't afford an increase in this financial climate. Does anyone know of a provider that offers it cheaper?
@HolidayHappy123 how does one fine an endocrinologist privately? And what would I say is the reason I need the prescription other than to control my weight gain? Apologies for the daft questions.

HolidayHappy123 · 31/05/2023 10:24

Have a look on Spire, HCA, Bupa etc. websites and they will have a list of specialists. I said I was there for weight loss and mine didn't hesitate to prescribe Ozempic.

Much better than a rip off online clinic.

It’s so unfair. I have Lipodema and this is the first time I’ve been able to do anything about it to try and lose real weight from my legs. My waist is (28 inches but my hips are 48!) I can’t afford liposuction surgery but perhaps it’s cheaper paying it up monthly now than it is using the ozempic. I just want to stop hating my body. It’s exhausting. I know the NHS is struggling and I’m ok paying what I can afford so not to burden them but this just feels like such a push.

So despite 2 emails and a text from Juniper telling me that my treatment is paused, they have sent it out THREE WEEKS ahead of schedule at a price I didn’t agree too. Bloody raging.

@HolidayHappy123 Apologises I've come back to you.
I heard there's an Ozempic shortage. I'm having my consultation with the Physician Clinic next week to try and get a prescription so I can get it cheaper from the pharmacy. The consultation is £300.
My question is do you think I would get it from the pharmacy even though there's a shortage? I don't want to pay £300 for a prescription note only to still not have it.
Thanks.

I’ve just had a repeat prescription from my consultant for 6 x 1mg pens but I couldn’t get them anywhere. My local pharmacy was able to get 4 x 0.5mg pens for £133 a pen but I’ll need 2 a month. I went with it to tide me over and my pharmacist will keep trying to get the 1mg pens.

if I were you though I’d wait until the supply is sorted before starting. I’ve contacted at least 10 pharmacies and only one was able to get the 0.5s.

ohlahlah · 15/07/2023 12:50

@HolidayHappy123 thank you for the advice. It's unbelievable what's happened. I'll just wait it out.

Drewhanna1987 · 17/05/2024 13:40

Use code FRIEND50 and give my name drew hanna to get £50 off first epic order

kitsuneghost · 17/05/2024 13:41

Do you not get it on prescription if you need it?
