*No-weigh* waist slimming challenge - 1 or 2" - who's up for it?

For context, I've already slimmed down considerably over the past year but I think I look better at a size 10 than a 12. Plus there's a strong history of type 2 diabetes in the family so I would be more in the "safe zone" if I lose some more abdominal weight, which is my big problem area, so there's a health motivation, too. I'm like a big potato with skinny limbs atm, not safe for diabetes at all.

For my weight loss so far, I haven't weighed myself at all and I have no idea what I weigh which is actually really bizarre, but it has helped keep my mind focused on the fat on my body and how it feels rather than the number on the scales. I just know I'm a size 12 now. I don't plan on weighing myself because it has been a destructive force in the past for me.

Now I'd like to focus on the abdominal weight and lose one or two inches, which actually could mean quite a lot of weight.

Sorry to be bossy/dictatorial but I don't want people's weights in the thread, I want a different approach based on abdominal/waist weight and reduction in waist size.

Is anyone else up for this challenge? Does anyone else want to join in measuring our waists and focusing on that as we come up to summer?

If there's anyone out there do you have any ideas for a goal? Maybe one inch would be more achievable or is it not enough? And I'm thinking cm might be better for accurate measurements 🤔

@waistchallenge I will completely understand if I am too fat for this thread, seriously just say and I will roll away! My goal waist measurement is 77 cm which is some posters starting measurement.

RunningKatie · 17/05/2023 18:27

@CountryGirl56 - I have the same issue. Currently I'd love a 77cm waist. I'm measuring in at 103cm.

CountryGirl56 · 17/05/2023 20:13

@RunningKatie we are in the over 100 gang.

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/05/2023 07:23

Can i join? I was 85.5cm on 24.04.23, 78cm today. I want to get to 73cm

Thismountain · 18/05/2023 10:14

@Howmanysleepsnow that is amazing! how did you do it? I was 79cm on 24/05 and 78.5 today - but carried on eating as per normal and did about 10 minutes a day hula hooping - need to eat less too 😢

CountryGirl56 · 19/05/2023 09:33

@waistchallenge how’s it going, got a tape measure?
@Howmanysleepsnow that’s impressive! Any tips?

Lifesyoungdream · 19/05/2023 09:51

I got a tape measure free in a British Heart Foundation and it shows when you measure your waist if you in a normal or an unhealthy range.
I am usually just reaching the red zone.

83 cm

I was 83 and now measuring 82.5 so not a big difference but I’m taking it. I’ve made some small swaps to avoid too many UPF.

AutisticLegoLover · 13/06/2023 08:49

Have you got a tape measure yet @waistchallenge?

waistchallenge · 13/06/2023 09:22

Sorry, everyone, this challenge kind of collapsed 😢

I got really, really frustrated about not finding my tape measure (doing that kind of frantic searching where you're chucking stuff around and creating a mess) and thought I'd come back to the thread when it turned up, thinking it would be a couple of days, max.

@AutisticLegoLover, it never did turn up and then I got really ill and actually put on weight because of staying in bed all day for over a week! I got one a few days ago, and can see my waist is now bigger than when I started this thread!

I notice most of these threads do tail off, though.

Is it worth trying again? 🤔

I've just noticed it's a month on from when I started the thread! 😧I should have been showing off my slimmer waist by now 😑

I’d like to join 🙂 I’m very similar to you, slim legs and arms but then massive boobs and stomach. my bra back band is only a 30, so small rib cage which makes my stomach even more of an issue. I’ve just lost about a stone and a half so have lost a lot of the ‘other’ weight so I’m hoping stubborn belly fat is next to pack its bags and go.

just measured and my waist (round my very narrowest part) is 88cm. Would love to get that down below 80. Too scared to measure round the fattest bit 😂.
