Is it easy to go down from size 12 to size 10?

How many kg should I lose to go down one size? I would like to go 2 sizes but after pregnancies I don't think I can.

Hi it can be frustrating when you try to loose weight and it's not happening. To drop a dress size depends on your height and your original weight. That can vary anywhere between 5 and 10 pounds,

Maybe think about loosing a few pounds and see how you feel

For me, at 5'5", I'm a true size 12 (29" waist rather than going on clothes sizes) at roughly 10st6 and a true 10 (27" waist) at about 9st8. So 12lb difference. That's just me obviously but I hope it helps.

Nobadvibes · 11/05/2023 09:04

It’s not your actually weight but your measurements. So for example you could do Pilates for 3 months be the same weight but actually reduce your measurements.

are you just dieting or doing exercise as well?

doadeer · 11/05/2023 09:05

I was a 10 before having a baby. I'm 5ft8 and I don't think I'll be a 10 again, I'm a size 12, waist is 28 inches. I think it would be about 8lbs for me to get to a 10

whiteonesugar · 11/05/2023 09:43

It's more about measurements but I find 8-10lb is the difference between dress sizes for me. Depending on the clothes and fit etc of course. Clothes doing up and fitting are two very different things!

morelippy · 11/05/2023 09:47

When I was heavier it was a good stone between sizes. Now it's about half a stone.

morelippy · 11/05/2023 09:48

I should have also said that last half a stone is almost impossible to lose!

Weight loss isn't always linear, nor does it always register on the scale. Like others have said, it's not weight you need to be tracking but your measurements.

Quiting sugar and doing 30 days shred, not everyday. Is it pilates better for tonening ?

Different things work for different people. To lose weight and burn fat you need to be a calorie deficit. Google Marco calculator and it’ll tell you yours based off height, weight, activity level.

Pilates ‘tones’ in the sense you build strength/muscle/definition. To see best results you need to do cardio to help loose fat/weight. That can easily be done with 10k steps a day.

If the 30 day shred and no sugar is working I’d stick to that and get your steps in. Try taking your measurements now and tracking them.

I’m a mix of 8/10/12 but weigh 75kg, 58kg is muscle and I’m 5ft11

StoneColdAlibi · 11/05/2023 12:48

Toning isn't a thing. You can lose fat and you can build muscle.
Looking more toned is a combination of both.
Increase the amount of protein you consume to around 125g a day and fibre to over 25g a day, drink lots of water and do any exercise you enjoy. Though weight lifting has many bonuses to it so I'd highly recommend incorporating that alongside some sort of cardio, even walking.

Pilates is great for posture, but weight and resistance training is the best for building muscle which in turn, burns fat and will make you look more toned.

30 day shred is a good starting point.

I think you’re on the right track. Quitting sugar is key. I’ve gone down from 12 to an 8 last year before holiday… felt great! Took several months of sticking to it. But I think 10 is my healthy place. It means I can still eat whatever I want as long as I keep up with the running and gym. (Whatver I want isnt burgers these days just to be clear. I mean the odd digestive biscuit here and there.)

You can absolutely do it. Already rooting for you.

6kg for me, 5ft 5”.

ferntwist · 11/05/2023 13:18

I always find it’s 10lbs for me between dress sizes. I’m 5ft 9ins.

Can I ask how to do the 30-day shred? Is it a book/YouTube?

Good luck OP!

It's a Jillian Michaels workout dvd, available to stream for a fee on various platforms
