Bumping this as my salter 10 year old scales are definitely broken, have been on diet for over 3 weeks and it says i have put on 2 pounds, i have done 19 one hour gym classes in 21 days, averaging 14-16000 steps a day, but scales stay the same weight for the last week, no change in body fat either. I look and feel slimmer, so definitely broken.

Anyone has good scales recommendations please?

Unless you are eating less the excerise might have made you tone up - look slimmer

And you might have been eating extra because of the exercise and put of muscle

Or you might be about to start your period

I have the Etekcity Bluetooth Body Fat Scales connected to my Fitbit. I've had them a good few years now, they've been reliable and accurate (I double check them with the gym scales).

Period just finished,so usually i weigh less but this morning the scales have shown exactly the same measurements as the day period started, i just loat my calories over the last 3 weeks and its 1260 s day. I am already small so maybe its too many, but when i eat less i am hungry and cant stick with it. I look and feel smaller and not bloated( gave up sugar) so i think the scales are broken.

Throw out the scales and use a tape measure.

It's the biggest scam going for women. Get them obsessed with bloody numbers on a screen and obsess their life around them.

How do your clothes fit? Scales mean nothing.

I have some EufyLife ones that connect to an app on my phone. It's worth mentioning though

  • every set of scales you step on will give a different weight, if you lined up 5 new sets you'd get 5 different weights and body composition results. So be prepared for a weight you aren't expecting either higher or lower
  • you need to put them in a position and leave them there, if you move them around every day that will affect how the feet sit and the result you get.
  • even if you got the most brilliant and precise scales you'll still see lots of ups and downs based on where you are in your cycle, how much water your body is retaining, how much sleep you got....
  • doing exercise can cause you to retain water, if your muscles are aching then they are also repairing and that takes water so your body retains it to aid that process.

I have a cheap Withings one and it works fine. I don't have a Fitbit though but it connects to my phone and it has its own app so I'm sure it could connect to other things

I use a fully calibrated set at the gym at work, once a month is plenty of me

Between times, I notice how my clothes fit and can adjust as necessary.
