Extreme diet needed

I weighed myself this morning and was disgusted to see that I now weigh 13st 6lbs. I'm only 5ft 3ins so classed as obese. I need an extreme diet to give me a kick start- in the past I've found that when I see noticeable results, it makes me want to stick to it. Can you recommend anything short term that will perhaps help me lose up to half a stone very quickly? I know I have more to lose after this but as I say, a head start is likely to help me stick to it.

For context, I was a size 6-8 weighing 8.5/9 stones for a number of years. I began suffering with a health condition that restricts my ability to exercise aside from gentle walks.

I know a short, sharp weightloss can be motivating, but when you hit the half stone loss, then what? Adjust your diet to something less extreme and you're more likely to stick to day to day? Have you considered how demotivating it can be to get 'used to' big losses and see them slow right down, and sometimes plateau completely for weeks? What then?

I appreciate what you're saying but previously I've found myself wanting to 'maintain' the weight I've lost therefore motivated to stick to it but when it's only a couple of pounds it's easy to fluctuate hence why I'd like to lose a bigger chunk. I plan to move towards a high protein/low carb diet afterwards.

cutting out all carbs is pretty quick I think

No short sharp diet ..do 1200 calories a day on myfitnesspal, it will soon come off, and then when you are at your target weight, build up to about 1600 depending on your activity level.

It's not easy but it is simple

Lose weight fast, regain it fast. Adopt a Mediterranean diet, do plenty of exercise and stop weighing yourself.

Being disgusted by your own body isn't going to get you anywhere.

And maybe you need to rethink your attitude to weight - do you go around thinking other larger ladies are disgusting? If so, you're missing out on a lot of interesting people

If you are in the UK get the Nutracheck app. It haa all the foods from our supermarkets takeaways and restaurants and the measurements are guaranteed correct as you can't go in and edit them yourselves. They have some terrific forums you can join. I lost weight quite quickly on keto Cambridge diet and fast 800 it's just hard to keep going. More long lasting chNGES would be better I think. I am now switching to a more Mediterranean diet as it's delicious and sustainable.

No I am not disgusted by anybody else, just myself. I hate the way I feel and the way I look. 😔 I have lots of nice things but none of them look nice on me. I hate photos of myself and don't like taking part in photos with family and friends. I hate when I have to and they're posted in places.

Thank you. I will download this app now - I used to use my fitness pal but didn't get on that well with it as the directory was missing a lot of foods.

In terms of diet, I think lowering carbs and shortening my eating window helped a lot. I didn’t cut them out completely but mostly stuck to having them at lunchtime and then adding veg or salad to the meat for my dinner. Ate mindfully from 12-6pm, 45 min walk after dinner. I lost about 2.5 stone in about 8 months. I have regained a small amount 2 years later but I still feel quite healthy and happy with how I look.

However the way that you view yourself and talk about yourself is really sad. I know lots of women have done it, including myself, but you are not disgusting just because your body is a bigger size than you want it to be. You are probably the most important person to someone, especially if you have children or a partner or parents still around. Losing weight will likely help you improve your health which is great, but your value doesn’t depend on it. Be a bit kinder to yourself, I hope you feel more positive soon x

I eat whatever I fancy but small portions that equal around 1500 calories a day. I'm the same height OP and today hit my target weight of 55kg. I was 68.6kg last September. The only exercise I do regularly is walking. Slow and steady is best for keeping the weight off. You will likely lose that half stone quickly as weight loss is often quick and big to start so you'd get your boost then just keep going. The LOSE IT threads are great and have kept me going along with a severe stubborn streak. You can do it!

Eat within an 8 hour window, cut out the vast majority of processed food and all ultraprocessed food and reduce carbs. Don't worry about calorie counting, if you only eat whole foods you will feel full and the weight will come off.

Also make sure you are not consuming calories through drinks and avoid sweeteners as they will make you hungry.
