Does SW or WW online work? I've got 1.5 stone to lose and I'm finding it impossible

I'm 57 and on HRT which may make it harder. I lost a good stone last year doing low carb boot camp but tried it again this year and it didn't work. I also have more energy when I eat some carbs.

SW worked for me until I stopped and put all the weight back on. Eventually it just felt like I couldn't live with it any more.

Lost 3 stone last year low-carbing and have mainly kept it off. Now for the next 3 stone !! (And that's not all I have to lose!).

I'm 52 and on HRT which I think makes it harder. I love carbs, my favourite food is sandwiches! But I'm feeling the benefits and it's easier than slimming world and all the fingering out syns and all.

I really like the odd slice of very wholegrain bread or a handful of wholegrain pasta. Also beans and lentils so not sure how I can low carb!

I think that fundamentally these schemes don’t work because they basically want you to continue spending money with them. Any plan which says you can eat food “for free” is nonsense really.

you’d be better to focus on building muscle with weights and then tracking macros

I am doing weight lifting twice a week.

Maybe IF might help

I'm finding a 6 week coaching course with a woman called Mandy Meyer really helpful. Her Instagram is running4meyer.

It's about £50 for 6 weeks then about £43 for each subsequent 6 week block so only about £1-£1.50 more expensive than slimming world. She is so down to earth, with good advice and has been there herself. The focus is on a whole lifestyle change so you lose the weight and keep it off. There's a zoom call each week as a group, mostly her talking and you can submit questions beforehand or in the chat, a Facebook live each week, then you submit weight and other info each day on an app and she gives personal feedback and is also responsive to messages on it. So it's quite a good deal. The accountability of it is I think the best part of what slimming world offers and this gives even more of it, and also helps you actually live rather than count syns the rest of your life.

I'm not affiliated with her! Just coming to the end of my first 6 week block and about to book my next one. Her podcast is good too.

WW used to be good, now they don’t even really disguise that they are keeping customers in a starve/binge/repeat customer cycle. The app is good, but that’s all it offers now.
Slimming World, is basically decent normal eating. Some of the things you see on-line are mad, but the premise is easy to follow and honestly it’s refreshing for carbs not to be demonised and, this might not be the case for everyone, I found that being ‘allowed’ carbs after years of feeling guilty over pasta such a relief. The app is good, basic but works well. The meetings are awful, the leaders really should be employed rather than owning the franchise.
However, I have extensive knowledge of both diets because I am a disordered eater and have never kept the weight off long term. So I can’t give you a good answer.

It works for me doing SW on line and you'd be able to eat all those foods.
