Want to lose 3 to 5 kgs asap

Never ever dieted before but since I had covid all the way back in 2020 I noticed that I gained about 3 to 5 kg (not sure because I don't weigh myself often) and I ccc't fit in my favourite clothes. I have been trying to shed but obviously it is not working.

I have some beautiful summer dresses and want to renew my wardrobe. How do I lose 3 to 5kg fast? Once I get there, maintaining will be easy, I suppose, I'm joining the gym again, and will be careful not to gain anymore as well as keeping good habits.

What would be better, Keto? Fasting? Calorie deficit?

Anything that I can take to suppress appetite?

I don't drink alcohol, I don't eat a lot of sweets or sugary drinks and normally cook at home. Also I don't drive so i walk a lot.

What else can I do?

Fast 800. If your BMI is above normal range, you can do the full Fast 800. If you're already in a normal weight range, do the 5:2 / 4:3 diet. Read the Fast 800 book for clarification. It's the quickest but still safe diet there is.

Keto and 16:8 fasting together.

My Fitness Pal, try to keep to 1350 cals and ever use every day. Don’t eat back there calories. Track everything. I did this two summers ago and lost 20lb in about two months and you only want to lose half that. It won’t be very hard.

With a BMI of 21.5 you don't really need to lose much weight (if any). Maybe you'd be better just toning up. Gillian Michaels 30 Day Shred or something would be good to lose a small amount of fat and tone your muscles.

Hi OP, I'm in a very similar position, do you want a diet buddy?

Previously low carb has worked for me, but I've never tried proper keto, and intermittent fasting isn't very good as I don't have the willpower when I feel hungry.

The only time I've been successful recently was on a thread on here, when I lost an inch from my (pear shaped) bum on 1,200 - 1,300 cals/day, in about 4 weeks. I need the accountability!

Yes I do!

I was shocked a couple of days ago when I used the scales on my GP surgery and my weight is EXACTLY the same it was 1 year ago! I’ve been wanting to lose all this time but in 1 year nothing changed! I felt like I wasted a whole year and it was an eye opener.

So, so far I’m eating less - smaller portions and less carbs - I already feel less hungry.
I’m walking more too.

My plan is to do some stretches or yoga at night like I used to do in the past, just so I feel less lethargic and more in touch with my body - go back to zumba at least once a week and probably join the gym again as I really like lifiting weights. Maybe take up running.

In regards to food, I follow a lot of food accounts on Insta and FB and I noticed that when they post heavy, greasy food I feel sick and don’t want to look at it. Thanks goodness for the weather, it helps a lot.

I’m also seriously considering surgery in the winter - take the fat from my belly and put it in my bottom to create a more hourglass figure and get rid of love handles. I’m confident about keeping maintanance once I achieve what I need.

What are your goals?

Cool, feel free to message me or we could continue on this thread.

Really good point about doing something regularly to get in touch with your body. I think that's the key. Pre-dc I did a lot of yoga and that kind of thing, but now I'm so busy I just pull on clothes (which I don't give much thought to) and don't think about it, except when I remember all the nice things I can't fit into, or when I contemplate wearing a bikini (I simply wouldn't at the moment!)

Are you large enough for surgery? I only ask because I looked into some kind of freezing fat away procedure and they said there's not enough tummy fat, although I could pretty much grab a handful. I still blame my cesarean 10 years ago

Having said that, I'm not too worried about a bit of tummy, my goal is to lose 2 inches from my bum measurement, and to firm up that area.

Shall we keep it here in case some more people jump in with us.

Not sure if I have enough fat on my belly for surgery, trying to research procedures and study before / after photos. People will probably say that exercise can solve that which is true but why not just do it and use exercise for maintenance? Motivation will be so much stronger.

Bikini body with a flat belly is my goal but I don't want to just look slim, I want to look toned in all the right places so weight lifting is a must. More bum without any more hips if that makes sense. I don't think I can achieve that at home unless I had a home gym.

Can you lose your 2 inches with diet only?

I tend to agree with your point about surgery though I wonder how long the recovery is when you shouldn't exercise? I've had a couple of operations (both necessary and vanity Grin ) that stopped me exercising for months due to fear about the scars. But I was probably being over-cautious.

I go to the gym quite a lot including weights and running so I think under the 2" there are probably quite good muscles hiding away! Definitely the thing I need to change is diet, and particularly sugar. I gave up chocolate recently with no problem, but I've replaced it with other sweet things. That's my main hurdle.

IwantanewcarbutIshouldnt · 20/04/2023 15:51

I don't actually have a plan about my sugar intake so all suggestions welcome (except abstinence, ho ho)
