Emetophobe - should I risk Ozempic?

Apologies that it's another Ozempic query. I've read pretty much all the threads / posts but still have questions.

I am terrified of vomiting. Fortunately I'm not a 'sicky' person (last time was 13 years ago when I had Norovirus) though the infrequency has probably exacerbated the fear, to be honest.

I'm seriously considering trying Ozempic to help with weight loss. I believe the statistics are approx 5 - 9% experience vomiting as a side effect. If I knew I would be one of the 5 - 9% I almost certainly wouldn't risk taking it (I realise how pathetic that sounds).

If you have actually been sick while taking Ozempic, would you say you generally have a strong stomach and it took you by surprise, or are you prone to throwing up with medication or if you have a bit of an upset tummy?

My OH has what I would call a sensitive stomach and is sick once a year or so, and it wouldn't surprise me if he vomited while taking meds with that listed as a side effect.

I guess I'm trying to judge how likely it is that I would be one of the unlucky ones!

Unfortunately, it's one of those suck it and see situations. I've been on it for four weeks now, and my only side effect is slight constipation and possibly light headedness, but I'm always light headed, so who knows?. Haven't felt sick at all.

Thank you Hadjab.

I know you're right, that the only way I will know is to take it.

I suppose I'd be reassured if people who had reacted badly (in terms of actually being sick) reported being prone to sickness generally.

I wish I wasn't so fearful of it! Normally I manage ok but it can be debilitating.

I was sick on it several times and I don’t have a sensitive stomach and certainly am not in the habit of throwing up.
There is no way of knowing in advance whether you will be someone who vomits or not. It’s that simple and I’m being completely honest with you.

Thanks Twiglets, I appreciate your honesty.

Thanks Twiglets, I appreciate your honesty.

You’re welcome and I’m sorry you have this anxiety. You could easily be one of the lucky ones but no one can guarantee that unfortunately

I was incredibly sick and I would say I’m not really a pukey person. That said, I had a break when I went on holls and now I’ve started taking it again I haven’t been sick at all this time (touches wood manically!)

I actually cried before I went back on it this time as the sickness was so bad, I was so scared of it happening again.

I think you need just need to try it, so many people are absolutely fine on it, though I really do understand your fear as I was surprised by how much it affected me mentally.

Thanks Dressshelp.

I wish I was the kind of person who could just throw up and be done with it! My OH is like that and while of course he doesn’t like being sick, he doesn’t dread it.

I think I’m going to have a last stab at losing weight with IF as it’s worked in the past. I’d really like to use Ozempic as it sounds as though it helps with the mental battle but if I’m constantly terrified of vomiting that will be another sort of mental battle anyway.
