Low carb snacks (as in easily accessible ones)

I have PCOS and am now on my knees with related symptoms. In my 30's and literally dragging myself around these days with fatigue. Have low vitamin D that I'm now sorting but done a lot of reading and research and decided low carb and exercise is the way forward for me.

The thing that terrifies me (I will be starting tomorrow after obligatory Easter piggy roast dinner plus potatoes today)
Is I am a massive snacker. I live off of snacks. I'm hoping I can wean myself off snacks at some point but I can foresee disaster happening if there's nothing to hand. I think things like nuts may be a bit high in calories to snack on? I've looked up low carb snacks but I am also very lazy and don't really want to be chopping veg just to get a snack in so looking for 'east snacks'

I know people will judge the lazy but I can't see it changing overnight. I'm really down about it all and praying I can finally get my weight down if I put my mind to it this time. Dh also going to eat LC with me but will add carbs to his meal only.

Cheese, nuts, fish sticks, houmous, boiled eggs.

Boiled eggs, biltong/jerky, sliced meat, pork scratchings (I think?!), cheese, dark chocolate (which is so crap I just stopped bothering!), erm I can’t remember really. I did low carb a few years ago - also a PCOS sufferer, it really did ease my symptoms a lot when I lose weight I have to say.
I don’t low carb anymore but just eat a lot more intuitively.

And I used to snack round the clock! I still snack now but mostly sensibly and only one or two a day, and I also try and make it mindful rather than just blithely wandering to the fridge and raiding it.
So I get what I want to snack on and put it on a plate, sit and eat it without distractions, no telly or phone scrolling.
It’s quite good in that you are seeing and concentrating on what you’re eating and it helps your brain register food intake rather than not looking at it but still scoffing 2 bags of crisps in 2 minutes while reading mumsnet 😂 you might not do this but I certainly used to!!

  • Sainsburys and Asda do 25g packs of beef jerky, I like the Sweet & Hot flavour. 1 pack is 75 calories
  • A boiled egg is about 70calories
  • Babybel or cheesestring is about 70 calories
  • Protein pudding pots or yoghurts are about 100 calories
  • Langley farms full fat cottage cheese is lovely, not lumpy and sour like other cottage cheese, it's creamy and filling, just over 100 calories for half a tub

Ooo thanks I haven't thought about things like boiled eggs. I'm going shopping tomorrow to stock up so am listing these items down!

Do some food prep on a dedicated day/evening.
I hard boil 8 eggs on a Sunday night and keep them in the fridge (in shell) to have throughout the week.
2oz cubes of mixed cheeses, sliced vegetables, Cucumber, Lettuce wedges (small one cut into 4) celery (if you like the abomination) 🤢 variety of olives, deli meats like salami, pastrami.
Pork scratchings, pate, hummus, homemade blue cheese dressing, garlic cheese dips for veggies.
Cooked prawns, tins of tuna or sardines/mackerel fillets, they come in some tasty sauces now and are cheap.

@TheChosenTwo fridge raiding has been an issue! Good point about sitting down and focusing on what I'm doing and not mindlessly eating. I do this.

Cooked meats, eg slices of ham are always good for a low carb nibble

If you eat plenty of protein and good fats you won’t need to snack. I know you won’t believe me but it is honestly true. Just make sure you eat enough at meals and especially enough fat and in about two weeks your body will have adapted.
for me, freedom from needing to snack and stabilised energy levels was one of the best things about eating low carb.
unfortunately just one sugar binge can knock this off again so if you do have for example a slice of cake you’ll want to snack a couple of hours later as your b
ood sugar spike crashes back down and you just need to resist till you level off again.
