I am 44 and I have 4 stones to lose. It is made really difficult because of perimenopause. Am I too old for this treatment ? Do I need to go to my gp first ? Thank you

I’m 58. Been taking it for a year and have lost 3 stone.

it’s generally not prescribed on the NHS for weight loss. Some doctors will prescribe if you are diabetic.

I get it privately online. Have a look at the other Ozempic threads. There is lots of info in there.

My aunt has just started having the ozempic injections. She has 3-4 stone to lose. She pays for them tho and is in her mid 50s. Apparently they start you off on a low dose then increase it. Not sure of the results yet as she’s only had like two injections I believe. However she’s keeping us posted and no side effects reported so far.

Actually just realised you asked about Saxenda too. They are different drugs. I am taking Ozempic. You can get Saxenda through Lloyds chemists weight loss programme I think. Or other on line suppliers.

I thought they were the same ! Don’t I need to check with my doctor if this could interact with other things I’m prescribed ? Thank you

They are similar but different. Ozempic is semaglutide and Saxenda is liraglutide. Ozempic works on blood sugar as well as appetite suppression.

If you buy from an online supplier you will have an online form to fill in where they will ask for any medical information.

Thank you :) may I ask you where you buy it ?

I have used The Virtual Slimming Clinic, MedicalWeightLoss4You and QuickMeds.

Please research though to make sure you know the risks, side effects and how they work.

The NICE guidelines are here.

Wegovy is the same drug as Ozempic and is licensed for use in treatment of obesity but isn’t actually available here in uk as yet. It’s due to be this year some time and will apparently be available from Boots. It’s used in higher doses than Ozempic.

NICE recommends new drug for people living with obesity

I have gallstones and I just saw I can’t have Ozempic as it can affect my gallbladder:(
