Would an exercise bike be any good at helping me lose about a stone and a half?

On its own? How often would I have to use it/how long for?

when you say on its own do you mean without any lifestyle or food changes?

you will have to do lots of hours on it with a decent level of resistance

Feenie · 13/02/2008 08:47

Minimal food changes. Okay, what about about with sensible eating (ish)?

Thank you for your help.

increase your fruit and veg and cut out all waste of space foods like crisps biscuits cake pudding etc and breakfast cereals pastry

have oats for breakfast and or fruit

will help

i think you need at least an hour of intense exercise

i couldn't do it just on a bike

i do 10 minutes on a bike as part of my gym routine and that is enough for me but if you like the bike that is different

Not keen, but finding it difficult to find time/energy to leave the house in the evening more than once a week (work full time), so thought it would be easier to do at home. I do karate on the one night I can get out.

i found it really hard to discipline myself to exercise at home

do you have a lot of motivation/willpower?

and do you balready have the bike?

Feenie · 13/02/2008 09:05

No and no! Have to do something though, it's making me miserable.

Only if it's in front of the TV! I use mine when I want to lose weight, and it definitely helps, but know that the only way I'll do it is if there's something decent to watch while I'm cycling. I do 30 mins, 5 times a week.

In front of the TV sounds do-able!
