Hello,

First time poster here so please be kind.

I have always been a size 8ish (weight less than 8.5st). About a 18 months ago I started new medication and since then I have put on almost two stone. I have also developed a sweet tooth.

One of the other side effects is an insatiable appetite which can be absolutely unbearable at times.

I have never had to watch what I eat before so I am really struggling with this. I have cut out savory snacks but do not appear to be making any progress.

Typically meals during the week -
Breakfast - two boiled eggs
Lunch - Left overs from the night before or vegetable soup (home made)
Evening - Sausage and lots of vegetables, homemade chilli with small portion rice, prawn stir-fry wit LOADS of vegetables. Tuna pasta bake (homemade tomato and vegetable sauce). Chicken / mushroom risotto (sprinkle of cheese added at the end)
Day time snacks - plain rice cakes, seaweed thins, apple or orange. 4 cups of tea no sugar. 1 liter of water. I also try do 1-2 hours of stretching / steps in my working day between phone calls. I also carry this on at home and usually do 8000-11000 steps a day

I have two small children and a hungry husband so need to cook an evening meal (I eat the same but with little / no carbs).

Please help me combat this insatiable hunger! Any tips on low calorie meals that will fill me up!

Thank you for reading :-)

What is the medication?
Are you breastfeeding?
Could you be anxious/bored/depressed(I eat yo cope with my emotions/state of mind?
Have your thyroid been checked recently?
Could you be peri-menopausal, the weight gain is real!!

I am reducing down my pregabalin due to the same and an slowly tryinG to lose weight but am peri so tricky.

only thing that helps me is tons of meat, keeps my blood sugar more stable so les needing to snack.

Also just nothing sweet other than yogurts, I don’t trust myself with anything else

@ChiefPearlClutcher I am almost certainly peri-menopausal as well.
@Matchingcollarandcuffs Yes I think eating more meat / protein could be a good way forward.

I have also started adding lentils and beans where possible to hopefully make me feel fuller for longer!

Honestly I have tried everything. The very best results I had was last hear around this time with Fast800. I signed up for a 12 week program, paid (still an paying as I quite like the recipes) and got on with it, am vegetarian so did the vegetarian version. I did SO WELL and was so chuffed, until I got the worst mastitis ever. Honestly, I thought I was going to die. I was so sick and it took me a long time to recover. Anyway, that was the end of that diet and I’ve tried various things since. I have now given in and am on Ozempic, week one. I’m 47, bmi 30, look 6 months pregnant with stick arms and legs, first hot flushes started a month ago.

Not sure what meds you’re on but if you have the motivation for trying a diet I can wholeheartedly recommend fast800. Stick with it to the letter though. It’s only 12 weeks

I started Fast800
last year the day after valentines day and got to 8 weeks in. I had a steady 1kg/week weight loss and would have totally reached my target (87 to 73)
