Is weight training ruining my weight loss?

So I have two stone to lose approx which I've put on after having two babies close together. I successfully lost a stone quite easily with slimming world in between babies but now I am struggling to make any head way. I am doing weight based training with a PT twice a week and calorie counting but I feel I was more successful when doing slimming world and not training. Could the weight training be having a negative impact on my weight loss? My trainer would obviously say no but looking for some advice. Thank you

Sorry to be naive but is it not possible to do both?

Fat won’t convert to muscle directly.
What can happen if your weight is staying the same but you look tighter, firmer and more toned Is your body is doing a recomposition. Fat is going down and lean muscle is doing up albeit slowly which is why weight might be the same or weight loss is slower.

You enjoy it and it makes you feel good. Bloody hell that is amazing!

Be patient with the rest.

My own experience is that lifting heavy is difficult and feels revolting if you’re not fuelled.

your trainer is probably trying to help you retain as much muscle mass as possible while in a slight deficit to cut some body fat. It may seem slow but in the long run you will be much better off for it. As long as you are losing inches and gaining strength then take that as a win. Don’t forget DOMS weight gain etc either, give it a solid 6 weeks and then look at the results. personally I think your trainer sounds very sensible. Review with your PT if you aren’t getting what you want out of it.

@Noicant thank you for posting. I do a sport that involves a large strength element (trapeze) and sometimes I did notice that I weighed a bit more than expected the next day. I wondered if the 2 were linked but couldn't find anything about it, until I read your post and googled DOMS weight gain! So it's good to have that confirmed.
