How to lose weight quickly?

I’ve got a big birthday (30) in the summer and I am currently 16 stone.

Ideally I want to be around 10.5 stone, but that’s 5.5 stone in 7 months. And I don’t know how realistic that is…

My plan is to calorie count and basically cut out the crap! Chicken, salmon, fruit and veg plus lots of water. I currently drink zilch water (this isn’t an exaggeration).

I do have a fairly active social life so I am worried how I will manage on those days I am going out. Obviously I’ll make sensible choices (healthiest options, gin and tonics etc), but it’s hard sometimes to stay on track.

What have other people lost in what timescales? Is my goal realistic?

I lost just under 4 stone in 9 months when I was in my mid-30s. I'd say 5.5 stone in 6 months would be tricky. You could probably lose 3 stone in that time though. I followed Slimming World to lose my weight. A safe amount to lose is 1 to 2lbs a week so if you lost 1.5lbs a week for 26 weeks that would be 2 stone 11 by mid-June.

Not remotely. It took me about a year a month to lose that much weight. In that year I slimfast for a month and half then ate to 1200 cal (plus 1/2 exercise calories) I did this religiously (weighed everything) and only took 3 weeks off (one for a holiday and two for Christmas). I logged everything i ate in my fitness pal. I religiously did strength and some cardio exercises 4 days a week

You also don't mention your height. I realised my 10 stone target was just impossible to achieve and maintain. I made it to 11 stone but actually look best at about 12. It will get harder once you get closer to maintenance calories

But don't let all that put you off

My greatest weight loss was at the start. Exercise seriously improved my health and well being. I kept it off for the best part of six years by going back to food logging whenever weight crept back on. (Admittedly put half back on during a hideously stressful year last year which I will get back off this year). Everything was more comfortable and I loved tge choice of clothes I suddenly had.

Slimming world will help enormously. Also if you enjoy walking or swimming, then that will help use up calories. It's a slow road this way but usually slowly means it stays off.
I also lost weight in my30s using Cambridge diet. It's expensive, but I lost HUGE amounts of eight quickly by going on a strict very low calorie diet which you purchase from the Cambridge diet mentor, who weighs you each week and gives support. I loved it and actually got excited about the loss ! But the down side is it will go back on quick if you stop and go back to old habits.
Personally I chose Cambridge diet for 3 months- lost nearly 3 stone and then maintained on slimming world.

I lost 4 stone in 6 months low carbing. Have a look at boot camp on here. Loads of information and help. You have to be committed to the way of eating. No weekends off plan. Lots of healthy fats to eat etc.

Completely changed my relationship with food - for the better. No longer feel bloated and constipated.

Just adding I didn't weigh, measure or calorie count a thing.

It would be too fast and not healthy. You can get gallstones if you lose weight too quickly and you’ll gain it again. Just concentrate on slow and steady.
