Spot weight loss impossible - so lipo is necessary? Or now what?

I used to have quite reasonable legs until lockdown happened. Nothing exceptional but a balanced shape, reasonably toned, slightly thick calves but OK and overall I was satisfied with them.

2020, 2021 I didn't do the exercise I used to (briefly "shielded" and lost confidence about going outside after that).

Although I didn't gain much, the fat I gained has settled into a really weird shape all at the top of my things, so most of my leg looks normal but then it flares out at the top, just below where granny knickers would sit on your leg. The effect is so exaggerated that I even thought I might have lipoedema. It's a shame considering my legs were reasonable before. Also, it's really weird because I have been heavier lots of times in the past and never had this weird thigh shape, it was more general and spread evenly across my body.

My issue is this: after searching it seems it's not possible to lose just from that one area. So even if I lose weight, I think the weird thigh shape may be here to stay. Is this correct? Or has anyone improved this kind of thigh problem, and if so, how?

Does this mean I would be better off considering liposuction? I mean, if you can't lose from only one area, that means it's there to stay, doesn't it?

Appreciate any thoughts.

I think if you just lose the weight you've put on you'll see a difference.

I'm thinking it's doubtful because the weight gain has been (to some extent) in one area whereas the loss will be spread all around, according to what I've read.

Are you a healthily weight now? As PP said sometimes if you reduce your overall weight you will see a reduction in that area. There are however some areas of the body that just don't shift like in which case only lipo would work.

I'm about a stone overweight. It's just so exaggerated the way it's appeared though. Could it be because I was sitting at a desk a lot, which has put pressure on the top of my legs?

I've just looked up something called lipoglaze. Anyone have any experience with that?

Surely the best thing to do is lose the extra stone and then see if it improves before looking into surgery? You didn't have it before, you've put a stone on and now you have it, surely that's your answer?

Oh well, I'll give it a try, I suppose. It is very weird having big thighs, you know. You can feel them all the time! They move when you run! 😆

Hi @tulips27 I came across your thread as I have a very similar issue (although I have much more weight to lose than you). Just wondering if you had looked into the lipo any further? Thanks.
