Anyone lost weight with just eating healthier?

Just that, no fads, calorie counting etc. Just literally drinking plenty water, having 2 meals per day, one yougurt with nuts and Prunes, the other just a normal dinner, pasta, rice, chicken etc then nothing after dinner? I'm day 3 of this and finding it very manageable. Just hoping I see results.
I'm usually a sugar addict, snacker.

Yep - I just gave up sugar (refined sugar and anything with added sugar, which naturally knocked out most processed foods). But I've kept fruits and I eat full fat everything, so I'm certainly not dieting. I stopped eating carbs for the first couple of months to help me beat my sugar addiction, but now I have them sometimes.
I've lost 22lbs since August 15th. I have never done anything so sustainable!

Raveon2000 · 06/01/2023 13:14

I've tried keto but find it so restrictive at times and also so much meat and cheese. I just want to eat a normal dinner with my kids.
But yes definitely the refined sugar has to go.
I'm not weighing as I find it affects my mood/day so I'm going by how my worj trousers feel. Tues was a struggle doing them up, today they already feel better so prob lost some water weight since then.
Good to know this works.
I feel as if this is more a way of life rather than a diet which is helping as diet suggests it will end at some point and I'll go back to my old habits

I'm interested in this as I lost a lot of weight doing SW but just wondering whether that was more down to healthy eating.

Rhi86 · 06/01/2023 13:21

Yeh it's definitely a way of life. I've never felt this way about a diet before. Someone on here recommended a book by Allen Carr called the Easy way to quit sugar and it totally changed the way I viewed sugar. The very next day I just gave it up!

I've made some easy switches too so I can broadly have the same meals but have cauliflower rice instead of rice or courgetti instead of pasta, so I'm not eating so many processed carbs.

I do feel great for it. And I was an absolute sugar addict - I can't believe how much I used to it. So if I can do it, you can do it!

I'm starting to...

Tbh my diet was shocking, breakfast and dinner would be bread based with a sugary treat, my evening my meal was processed shite and I'd sit and snack on sugar stuff all evening

I've now changed that to a homemade meals or soups and porridge and now snack on fruit and veg on an evening and I'm losing weight.

Yep, a stone and a half since September.

last weighed myself mid November, weighed myself yesterday, and I’m delighted, that between those dates, I have not put in a single lb since last weigh in. Which probably means I put back any weight lost In the weeks leading up to Christmas.

What is your typical day eating?
I already feel great on this, makes you wonder why you normally binge sugar and feel like shit!! I feel awful after sugar, bloated, heavy, tired etc.
I might need to read that Allan Carr book as I still view sugar as a treat which means I'll no doubt crave and have it at some point

I'm going to read that as well. Was just in costa and eyeing up a chocolate rolo muffin- didn't eat it though. Through November I cut out dairy and felt better for it. I was thinking of going back to SW but wondering whether to just do this- thanks for posting OP. I hope it works for you too Smile

ijustwantasofa · 06/01/2023 14:01

Yep. I didn't eat much "junk" anyway but lost a stone just not overeating on carbs and getting out of the habit of feeling justified in having "treats" all the time. I still eat all the things I like, just a bit smaller portions or a bit less often.

Also being really clear on what foods have ridiculous calories/fat and having a hard line on what's worth the calories and what isn't.

It does mean finishing before you're too full but 10 mins later you'll know if you're actually still hungry or not.

4 stone 8 pounds lost since July. I cut out sugar and eat 2 healthy meals a day. Still a stone to go but I’ve joined the boot camp thread to help me from 9th January. Although I didn’t count calories as such I made sure I logged everything on my app and with 2 healthy meals a day it’s hard to eat more than 1200 calories x

Raveon2000 · 06/01/2023 16:39

Yea I guess with 2 meals per day and fruit as a snack, it's hard to go over 1500 cals.
I find calorie counting I get obsessive though so doesn't tend to work for me.
I'll update in a few weeks. I've not got masses to loose, maybe a stone although as I said I'm not weighing as again I get obsessive.
Just want to feel good, less bloated, clothes fitting well. That's my goal for holiday in February

Refined sugar or all carbs too?

Refined sugar or all carbs too?

I still had some carbs. Porridge for breakfast with cherries. I have the odd slice of whole meal bread with peanut butter and cut down to one roast potatoe with my Sunday roast. I have changed to brown rice but given up pasta and white bread. A typical lunch would be a cheese omelette with lots of green veg. I still eat curries but sometimes give the rice a miss and again have it with lots of veg.

Jenasaurus · 06/01/2023 16:47

Being diagnosed with diabetes made me overhaul the way I eat and im
now in remission

Jenasaurus · 06/01/2023 16:47

I had 130g of carbs or less each day
